Few issues with dash illumination

Hi folks.

I've had my 300c for about 6 monts now.

When I turn the headlights on the dash clocks and satnav unit are backlit but the clock and heater controls are not, also the cigarette lighter does not work.
I've had a look at it today, all the fuses appear to be ok. I removed the remainder of a phone kit from behind the heater controls and under the steering wheel but this has made no difference.
I'm currently viewing on my iPhone because of Internet issues at home. I have had a quick gander through the search function but have been unable to find anything to help me, other than a thread where a fuse looked ok but was popped. I will try a fresh fuse in slot 9 of the fusebox in the boot tomorrow.

If anyone has any words of wisdom please don't hold back!

Many thanks in advance

Hello and Welcome. I would remove the fascia round the clock / sat nav and check that they haven't disturbed a connection/plug somewhere behind there seeing has someones been behind there to connect that old phone kit. It might also be just a case of the bulbs have gone. As for the cigarette lighter have you tried it with the key on (cant remember if it works with the key off or not)

One of the fuses in the rear PDC is 2 position selectable for the 12v power outlet sockets.

not sure which two sockets it supplies, possibly the cig lighter and arm rest box ones.

easy to see in the fuse box as it is a longer 3 pin slot, 'live' centre pin...forwards for one outlet (in line with all other fuses) or rear position for the other.

my cig lighter doesn't work but the centre box one does, which makes me think it may supply these two.

Hi guys and thanks for the replies.

I have tried with the key in position 2 (ignition on).
I will look into the fuses with 3 sockets, I saw these earlier today. 2 were closer to the rear of the car.
I will also check with a multi meter.
Will update tomorrow.

Many thanks once again

Its not that simple, its the feed which is shared to your clock and HVAC its knocked out, regrettably its not the bulbs or any fuse. You could try renew the headlight switch, if it does not cure the problem then the only option is to run a fresh loom from the switch to the clock & HVAC. The orange/white strip will need to be cut to eliminate that short and the power will be from the fresh loom from the switch

Or alternatively, you may want to leave it as it is.

Replace fuse 18 at the rear trunk to get your cigar lighter working with 20A fuse.

Thanks badgx.
I'll try swaping to fuse and if no joy I'll have to run a new wire.
The orange with white stripe is the one I'm replacing? Examin for breaks and repair or replace?

My clock light would go off and on...I unplugged the it from behind, cleaned, it, then firmly re-snapped and that fixed it.
My heater control was also dead. I bought two ring HALO lights....60mm 12v I believe, off ebay, and wired them together, placed them with the lights facing the circuit board, and then ran a wire up to the clock power supply, put the wires in the slots and plugged it back in. Worked fine.

ebay seller was "ausluna0001"

Thanks for that therealfleen.

Cig lighter was the fuse and the actual lighter was too long causing it to touch the positive contact at the bottom and blow the fuse, have changed the lighter and fuse, all good now.
All the bulbs on the clock and hvac are blown, tried putting power direct and tested continuity and they are all finished. The clock bulbs look simple enough to replace but the hvac bulbs are soldered do will get a pal to do those. Might replace the hvac ones with LEDs as I'm sure I've seen a how too thread on here.
I'm getting about 7v to the orange/grey wire at the back of the clock, hvac and coming out of the light switch, is that correct?

Many thanks
