yes you may be right was a bit tight underneath lost me bearings
think i may just try some epoxy metal filler around it all. dont think gum gum or anything like that would do it and not much room between pipe and engine 10mm ish
dont really want to spend much cash on it as px the car next week...... think i should get 5k for it maybe 96k on the clock now
do i get another or a Merc this time
???????????????
was a job and half, drivers side, i was amazed at how much fumes got into the car.make me wonder what else gets in from the engine bay
metal filler around the top and bottom flexible pipe, sealant around the vanes in the flexible part. wraped in bandage then a pipe clamp around the lot.
each manifold was 380 + VAT and i looked a pig to change, bolted onto a adapter that bolts to the swirl motor( i think bottom of the turbo) the passanger side manifold and down pipe to exhaust.
i looked at removing it but god know how you do it easily, looks like turbo off and as much stuff our as you can, was quoted about 1500 in labour to do this. plus parts and may not come apart easy? so may need other parts?

RS UV-1, 20" alloys NEVER SAY NEVER Immobiliser screwed for the 2nd time in a year
It is a bit tight under there, well very tight actually,we've replaced these before as per Simon's linky but if the insides have already broken away then thats your turbo screwed for definate
the exhaust manifolds link to a adapter piece which joins the bottom of turbo(swirl motor ) and the exhaust downpipe
as my turbo is ok. i could disconnect the swirl motor( fit resister) and no exhaust gases go back though turbo. so dont matter what comes of my flexible pipes that are broken
How do you know your turbo is ok? You can't properly tell until its stripped,we couldn't see the edges of the impeller were damaged when the turbo was in situ.if your turbo is boosting with the resistor trick then it must be ok,if its not boosting then you'll have problems
