Did it today after whilst doing the n/s door projector... no good after the event though eh? The metal rod was off/out of a little violet clip, cliped it back in and hay presto now have the door unlocking manually.

As was said if you have a lockout you can't (well we couldn't) hook the bonnet release. The boot release is also obviously out as its electric.

Just hope these bl**dy lights go out though...

Am I right in saying if the lights are on the relevant systems aren't working as they're switched off by the ECU?

They usually go out after a few starts like Paul says. They come on on the SRT8 if you disconnect the battery but always go off after a few miles. You could try "deactivating" (not normal switching off) the ESP take it for a drive then switch the ESP back on. It worked for me on one of my CRDs when they wouldn't go out

It is located in the "Drivers" door on LHD ie where it is now on ours. Looks like they didn't bother moving it for RHD

Just as I suspected. Its a pity they didn't leave the bonnet (hood) release where it was and this might have saved a few $. It seems that RHD versions of LHD cars always seem to be half-baked in this level of detail. My Audi A4 has its windscreen demister airflow optimised for the passenger, rather than the driver. I doubt that LHD versions of cars built in the UK suffer this problem, but perhaps I'm wrong.

Depending on what front grill is fitted, you can get a 13mm 1/4 drive socket and extension through and unbolt the bonnet catch from the slam panel. The holes in the Startech grill are to small, when my bonnet release failed I had to play about getting the top pins out the top of the facia with the bonnet/hood down and remove the facia enough to get in to unbolt the bonnet catch.

I shouldn't have that problem with the new grill though lol.

That would have required a new door handle casting - cheapskates.

If you are relying on using the emergency key to get in with a flat battery this might be worth reading...

Flat battery... What a palaver!

Once entry has been gained via the passenger door, can the driver's door be opened from the inside?
