Why cant Americans make.....
...Proper aluminium ?
the reason being, they miss out the second 'I', as in alumin um.
the second 'I' must give aluminium its strength which would explain why when checking my tyre pressures today the end 5mm fell off the ALUMINUM valve stem when i took the plastic dust cap off.
wont happen again, new tyres and RUBBER valves next weekend....stuff the annoying TPS valves.
Amazing to think it was once more valuable than gold and you want some rubber bits

Can't believe that just fell off! Was it still holding air?
Yes, still holding air...the valve core is a little deeper than the bit which fell off unlike the other side which, when i bought the car, had no valve core at all.
only thing holding the air in was the metal dust cap.
took a set of vice grips to get that off.

I don't know how you managed to avoid twisting off the stem with those grips. I had to take a hacksaw to my metal caps. I wonder how the air was retained by the tyre with no valve core, prior to the dust cap being fitted?

probably 60 or 70psi and fast fingers.
my bro, a tyre fitter, had one hell of a job getting the old TPM out..super corroded ALUMINUM valve and sleeve.
ended up breaking the sensor
