Pirelli may be rubbish

Had a great drive from Southampton to Brugge yesterday. however, I think the Pirelli's really are quite poor. I haven't been impressed with them since I got them but yesterday it scared the heck out of me. wheel spin on wet Tarmac at 80mph is not fun, especially next to a truck.

I run 22 inch rims with 265/35 tyres.

Anyone else run these Pirelli scorpion tyres and what's your experience of them?

No experience with those but if your looking for a good set i run 265/35/22 HANKOOKS they even hold in the snow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Got to admit - I've got 4 new P 0's on my 20" and I've felt safer on Hankook tyres with my Alfa - a bit cheaper too. Drive home tomorrow morning from Edinburgh so may have some snow to content with - we'll see what they are like then...

Just go easy, if they are anything like mine they will spin up all the time and the car will aquaplane like its a catamaran.

yes i do and they are less than useless. i cant wait to wear them out to get them off. yesterday i did the same thing up a motorway ramp, it changed gear while i still had my foot in and unloaded a load of torque and i lost the back entirely.
they dont like cold. they dont like wet. they dont like ice.
in cold wet icy conditions they are a death trap. have to be the worst tyres i have ever owned.
the michelin are supposed to be way better.

My last set of rears where Pirelli Pzero and they only lasted 10k and I honestly haven't been spinning the wheels or burnouts like I did on my original Dunlops and they lasted 20k with abuse,I've got Accelera's on now and we'll see how long they last and how they grip....so far they seem to grip well and are quiet...we'll see

Whatever you do don't fit Atturo AZ800's on it, mine came with a new set of them on it and it quite happily spins up beyond 90mph with the slightest of damp on the road. The traction control light flashes whenever you try to accelerate, absolutely bloody lethal!

It scared the crap out of the mot tester yesterday and he was only trying to take the car in to the workshop lol. The funniest thing was the receptionist came out to me to tell me the lads were all in there drooling over the car, then the mot tester brought the car out afterwards and said I bet that thing goes like stink when you can stop it bloody wheel spinning, its flaming mad! lmao.

Thanks for the input guys. Looks like the general concensus is that the Pirellis suck bung hole. I know the car is a LOT more lively since the ebrake is not applied full time but these things are taking the mick.

The incident on the motorway should not of happened, it wasn't that wet and I barely touched the throttle.

I shall seek out some of the alternatives above and give them a whirl, more money out of the suspension and brakes budget
