i took my rear boxes off as they looked to small, it only make a difference when the dpf cuts it then sounds nice heres a clip i send to a member downunder-
Ok, so if I was after it sounding more throaty I would need to remove DPF also, will my car fail emissons with this removed? I am assuming it will throw a light on the dash and run S*** until it is mapped?

If you removed the dpf, i think it would be ok for the mot, but it would throw a light and limp mode untill the mapping dpf delete

You will need to remove the turbo if you want a throaty roar. It takes all the noise energy out of the exhaust flow and uses it to compress the intake charge.
I've driven turbo cars without any silencer at all and they both were legal.
If I had a crd I would either (a) leave the DPF in place and remove only the rear box on both sides with the aim to reduce weight & choose a nice exhaust tip in its place or (b) leave the entire system untouched and install a nice exhaust tip of your choice> Much cheaper as you won't need to worry about reprogramming to turn of the MIL and the labour costs etc

For those who have not heard a 300C CRD with the mods his car has I can agree it sounds amazing for any car... not just for a CRD. I had the same reaction with people refusing to believe it was a CRD. The car sounded best under load and on a regen. If/when I return to UK I will be purchasing a 300C CRD and doing the exact same again.
