Exhaust Silencer Removal?

Anyone here done this to their CRD? I think the stock tailpipes look too small and was thinking of installing a pair of new ones and possibly deleting the back boxes out as well for nice shiny pipe instead of those big, bulky, ugly silencers. I am keen to know how it sounds? A mate of mine has doen the same to a inline 6 BMW, on that it is louder and has a turbo noise amplified through the exhaust, what can I expect to hear on the 300c? Also, doubt it, but worth asking, any performance difference? I don't mind it staying the same but don't want to loose back pressure and therefore loose power!?

If you cut the back boxes off it wont sound any different at all except when it's Re genning the DPF then it sounds a little deeper. You wont lose any power but it doesn't sound any different.

Really? Nothing at all? What are them big things doing there? To gain exhaust noise I would have to remove what?

DPF is biggest restriction in exhaust on crd but cant be removed without being removed from ECU(MAPPED OUT)

im getting the dpf removed in the new year

i wouldnt remove any silencers untill you have had DPF removed might end up sounding like a tractor lol

Honestly it will make no difference at all i put a pair of Blastin Bobs on my old SRT Design and apart from the better looking tailpipes they made no difference the DPF absorbs most of the sound.

We've had diesel cars in with the exhaust broke from the cat or DPF back and it didn't make any difference,however we had a Kia Sorento come in with the cat missing ( pikeys cut it off while parked opposite the cop shop in Wolverhampton and was caught by CCTV ....idiots...lol) anyway that sounded awful,so to keep costs down ( regular customer) we welded a straight pipe in and now he reckons he gets better mpg and I saved him a packet of dosh....lol

I fitted the Startech silencers to my CRD and they made hardly any difference at all to how it sounded. You knew when it was doing a dpf regen though.
