Confused about North American and UK naming conventions

ok, so I know that in the UK, you folks call a "trunk" a "boot". And the "hood" is a "bonnet".

But, do you folks call a "radiator" an "intercooler"?

I'm searching the UK for an intercooler and I keep seeing pictures of things that I really think are radiators.

Perhaps in the UK, an "intercooler" is really a "charge air cooler"?

As an example, have a look at this listing...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Jeep-Grand...item2ec31c1f18

in the ebay listing, even the seller interchanges the word "intercooler" with "radiator" so I'm confused!

An intercooler is a form of radiator and, unfortunately, the terms are used interchangeably by some. If the term is precluded by the words "turbo" or "supercharger" then the difference will become a bit clearer.

However, most intercoolers will be smaller than a radiator.

We refer to the component that is part of the engine cooling system a radiator and any part that is used to cool pressurized intake air an intercooler.

Obviously we Yanks adopted their nomenclature without question. Don't expect that to happen too often!

No Suzie you've got it wrong. Across the pond, what is actually a "boot" is called a "trunk" and a "bonnet" is called a "hood" Lol. I hope you don't take offence/offense at my weird sense of humour/humor.
We speak the same language, I think ?

A Brake disc is a Rotor,
An oil change is a lube job [ oooer ] ,
An exhaust is a muffler,
A rocker cover is a sill
A lug nut is a wheel nut

As for a *** or a Fanny Pack, let's not even go there.

The censored word is UK slang for a cigarette.
