i've had the wheel alignment corrected, steering is now dead centre as it should be, no change with the ABS / traction control error lights .. 3 lights are coming on .. they go off at very slow speed (below about 10km/hr), and come on immediately on speeding up.
I know for sure traction control isn't working as the car spun its wheels on a damp road, from stop, something it normally never does (I wasn't trying to spin the wheels, mind you ..)
Mechanic said he will try to get a part locally .. can anyone tell me the correct part number (Sep 2007 CRD sedan) and if there is maybe an equivalent Mercedes part?
thanks.
OK, move onto step 3 or jump straight onto step 4 of my suggestion (listed on post #7) and replace the speed sensor. Before you go out on a test run make sure you plug in your OBD code reader and ensure you clear the abs codes and your home dry.
Sometimes it might be just brake debris, but you can move onto Step 4 if you like and replace the sensor. I would think it would make economical sense to replace it since everything else has been changed
Keep it posted!

Not so in my case.
i had ABS, ESP and BAS lights come on and no cruise control.
code C102B r/h rear sensor circuit.
replaced the sensor and all lights went out and C/C returned to normal.
just been back to the mechanic, a replacement sensor isn't available yet ..
I asked him to take out the existing sensor, clean it with sensor-cleaning spray (whatever that is, but it smells of cool VOCs), clean the plug at the other end with contact cleaner, check visually and put the whole thing back together - no change at all.
The 3 dash lights sometimes go off (when driving slowly in particular) and then come back on with a 'bong' sound.
So .. next step is to wait for a replacement sensor ..
Mechanic said the wheel hub was taken out as a complete item and put back as such, so there is no chance at all the spline wheel is damaged. I still can't work out what happened to the sensor ..
I have one of the cheapo code reading devices from Ebay and though it connects to the car and detects canbus it doesn't show any codes to clear. Yesterday at one point I disconnected the battery for 10 minutes however that doesn't appear to have cleared out the car's ECU - windows were still synched, radio didn't lose presets, mpg thingie didn't change either.
One thing i've noticed since changing the control arms is that the annoying 'tick tick' sound made by the engine under load seems to have gone ..

Yep, good move. Replace that speed sensor, your vehicle has done many miles and with those new suspension parts it is economical to change it
The other remaining component that will affect the cruise control is the brake light switch, but normally if there was something wrong with that item, the basic code readers should be able to pick it up and would read code P0573. It too is part of the circuit and will make your abs, esp and traction control light up on your dash and the same, the cruise control will refuse to operate. The brake light will continue to operate as normal though even with a defective brake light switch. Its located, behind the brake pedal.
Keep it posted & make sure you clear the codes before you go out for a test drive.
