Boot release mod??

Now, I might of imagined this but I think I saw somewhere on the internet something about a modification to the boot where; when released, instead of it just popping open it pops open and opens all the way up. Does this sound familiar?

Thanks,

I'd like to do this as well.. Surely it's just a question of stronger hydraulic bits (not sure what they are really called..)?

I added the cable tie emergency release, just in case I ever have a flat battery.

tried that and not happy with the stresses on the boot lid, it would open but there permanent pressure on the latch, need an hydralic accuator (cant spell) old from a merc with the latch

Chrysler 300 / 300c / SRT8 emergency boot / trunk release get in boot even with flat battery - YouTube
Great post and video however I am stunned to find you have to do that in UK.

Here in Australia for about 10 years it has been mandatory for all manufacturers to include a safety release similar to yours except that it has a fancy handle that glows in the dark..it's to stop kids getting locked in the boot if they are playing (they cook and die in our summer heat)

As a byway it also stops you getting locked in your boot when those guys from Spooks kidnap you LOL

It seems to me that most anything that one could easily do to pop the trunk lid all the way open upon release would put additional forces on the hinges and latch when closed and operating to open, along with requiring extra force to lower the lid to the latching position, resulting in excessive wear and tear.

Must admit I hadn't considered the extra stress, but I was only really thinking about something only marginally more powerful than the stock ones so it's a nice gentle open - not a spring right up..
