There are positives and negatives to fitting the catch can.
Positives. Less chance of the small turbo inlet oil leak causing swirl motor failure, and all the other things asscociated with a cleaner burn etc.
Negatives. You'd be well advised to keep a watchful eye on the level of oil captured. If the can is allowed to overfill, it can cause dire consequenses.
Try and find one with a sight level.
The ones I've emptied have needed emptying at 3000 miles, could go to 4000 but tats cutting it a bit fine,on the other hand I've seen some CRuD engines that have not had a single oil leak, not many but a couple

I always empty mine at the fluid change interval. Sometimes there is 1/2 a can in there, sometimes a bit more if I've been running it hard at a race track.

Thanks to all, specially keat.
I intend to use the car only for around 7500 miles/year (I have another everyday car). And I will only use it to do long motorway journeys of 500+ miles, when I go to France. I certainly will NOT do any racing! Do I need to mention that my car is a 3.0 diesel?
