Happy Birthday Arnie - 7 years old today
Arnie celebrated his 7th birthday today, so I treated him to a brand new MOT certificate and Nanking tyres all round (the last P7's managed 32000 miles, so can't really grumble.)
Just had a service an the only surprise was new front brake calipers at £216.68 + VAT each and a rackend for £25.73 + VAT. Other than that, everything is still good. 107000 miles and chugging along very nicely.

Happy Birthday Arnie! Glad to hear he's still chugging around and that you haven't deserted the forum, Murph. Mine will be celebrating his (or is it her?) 7th in Sept. Only 30K on the clock so far, so hardly run in. Original P7s on front, but rear axle set was replaced last year due to non-repairable puncture on one tyre. Are your Nankings direct equivalents to P7s; eg speed rating, etc?
My 5.7 is also 7 years old next week, this is by far the longest I have ever kept an every day (non classic) car. I have bought another daily car, but I have also kept the 300C as well. I don't see any 4 door saloon I would replace it with, except maybe an Aston Martin Rapide, they are depreciating nicely.

Now then, they ARE a nice car. Aston have made a good job of it too, unlike the Porsche equivalent.

Typically, cars I have owned outright, as opposed to company cars, have been in my possession for 9/10 yrs. I read in the press recently, that the average US owner keeps their car for 11 yrs, which did surprise me, so this could bode well for the 300C. However, my record is currently being broken by my Audi A4 which is now into its 17th yr. If the 300C gets to that age then it could well become a classic.
Remember, mine isn't far behind, remember having all those debates back in the day.... Do I, Don't I? There were a few of us in the same boat IIRC.
It was a BIG investment for me, but overall not disappointed 7 years on. There's nothing I would replace it with, although we did buy my mates "old" A4 going cheap as a runaround when he emigrated, tend to use that for around the doors, and keep the 300 for longer journeys. Did Scotland - Bristol - Nottingham and back last week, will be the same again in 2 weeks time. 92,000 miles and counting.
Mine needed a front caliper recently too, so maybe a common failing at that age?
I still look out for Arnie when passing the Lakes on the M6, glad to hear you're still happy with her!
