4th to 3rd?

I was driving along the other day nice and steady, the car was in top gear as my speed slowly decreased so did the revs, I don't know why but I manually shifted the lever to bring the car into 3rd gear, as it did it clunked 😮. I quickly held the lever over to put it back into 4th and tried again-it clunked again but not as bad, I tried manually changed up and down through all gears and its only 4th to 3rd that clunks, also, it only does it when the car is cold after being stood all night...I'm on 91,000 miles now but surely I shouldn't start to see gearbox issues yet!?

Thanks, Dan

well your getting close to the 100K gearbox service (oil and filter change), plus have you checked the gearbox oil? maybe a little low?

You may also want to check all your universal and cv joints in the driveline and axle shafts. They do wear out and at 91k you may need to replace them.
