Jaguar XJ-D Versus Chrysler 300C CRD

Here is a translation of a German roadtest between the Jag Diesel & the
300C CRD. The trnslation is a bit ropey in parts, but the overall winner is...............

Thanks for the laugh Murph

From the fairy tale-like:

"In the house Chrysler one zauderte longer time, because for the market start no appropriate diesel set was available."

to the just plain confusing:

"0 to 100 km/h creates the Hecktriebler in scarcely eight seconds." - what the heck(triebler)?

and the winner is:

Not Google translator that's for sure.

But the highly esteemed CRD! (Particularly zat Mercedes engine yah)

It says: The RWD does 0-100 in marginally 8s.

The Jaguar is a really bloody good car, but to say that the 300C is one hell of a lot cheaper, it gives the Jag a close run in a lot of areas, is better in some, but its interior is fairly low rent. All in all, a very impressive showing by the 300C and excellant value for money.

My question is... Why in the hell do they keep trying to compare the 300Series car to a car that is 2 to 3 times the price?

Is it the outer style and beauty? because we know the inside can be tweeked and improved.

The article is about a years old. I think that the idea was comparing a new car (300C) with an existing, established car (Jag) that had just been given a diesel engine for the first time.
In the UK, the motoring press really talks up the engine that goes into the Jag (& Land Rovers & Range Rovers) so for the Chrysler to come out so well was a great result.
