A mile is a mile. I think you mean kilometers don't you? If you're on the metric system, wouldn't your car be set to whatever your country uses? As far as the temp is concerned, mine can be toggled either way. Same with my truck. Check your manual for instructions how to change it.

Hi BB

as Brother Rambit of the Candain Order has said a mile is a mile is a mile. BUT it is possible that your MPG is reading miles per titchy US gallon rather that our fine, suprerior and larger Imperial gallon. It is a simple job for your dealer to update your EVIC by "flashing" it. My EVIC is version 4.08 dated 25.10.05 and now gives me miles per UK gal.

As for F & you wanting C, this isn't possible to do at the moment if you want Imperial measurements. i.e. if you want miles per hour, miles per gallon, tank range in miles (all Imperial Measurements, reffered to as US on the EVIC) you also have to have the temp in F (Imperial Measurement, reffered to as US on the EVIC). If you want the temp in C, you then have to have lt per 100 km, km's per hour, tank range in kms (i.e all metric units, referred to as surprise, surprise, Metric on the EVIC).

DCUK, may or may not remedy things in the future.

I'm surprised that your dealer didn't show you all of the goodies at handover !

well, there are actually a lot of different miles;

1 'mile' =
0.8684 nautical miles (uk)
0.8689 nautical miles (int)
0.999998 statue mile (US)
0.999999 sttue mile (US survey)

And don't even get me started on roman miles. But the nautical miles is a measure that is used a lot and it is often confused with 'miles'

not good enough... While I was still living in London I was always late from everywhere when I had to drive XXmiles to meet a friend or a client. To me 10Kms is 10min drive, 20km is 20min drive (100kmh on a motorway) doesn't work that way with miles, it's just sooooo easy to work out everything within the metric system. I know traffic etc, especially the M25 can cause few delays every now and then...

ah my Dear Groovyjay

come closer and let your Uncle Murphy let you into a secret and you'll see why the whole world should convert to Miles and Miles per hour.

You see Grooveyjayster, the brain just isn't set up to work in silly kms. You have made a mathematical error of biblical proportions.
Travelling at 100 km an hour means that you will cover 100kms in an hour.
So it will only take you 1/5 of an hour (or 12 minutes) to drive 20 kms,
& it will ony take you 1/10 of an hour (or 6 minutes) to drive 10 kms.
not the 20 minutes that your metric addled brain thinks that it will take you.
Unless you want the metric system to have 100 minutes in an hour instead of 60.

Proof indeed that miles are miles better than km's.

laughing that much that I can hardly type.

The way I had worked it out included the time I was stuck in the traffic lights before and after the motorway section. 20kms is still 20minute trip for me...
