Exclamation UK Spec And Battery Chargers

Calling any UK spec owner...

A simple info request here (no kidding).

I am a great advocate of using the ctek multi XS 3600 battery charger / conditioner on those occasions that the other horses in my stable are not in constant use. This unit is recognised as one of the best available and costs under £50.

On those occasions that the new beast will be out of commission (e.g. away on my annual 3 months world cruise etc) I will be connecting the ctek which will ensure that the battery maintains its full charge.

As well as being able to connect direct to the battery, the ctek also has an adaptor that enables the unit to be plugged directly into the power point (cigarette lighter). However, this feature can only be used if the power point operates without the ignition key being operated in the usual accessory mode. My queries are:-

a) Does the 300c CRD have a power point in the area of the dash and if so

b) Does it operate independent of the ignition switch?

Cheers

Hi Geordie

2 Power points on my 300c CRD, one in the ashtray at the base of the centre console, and one contained in the centre bin under the armrest between the seats, which the manual states is ideal to feed an (optional) power inverter to power mobile phone chargers, laptops etc.

But not sure whether either or both are live independently of the ignition, I'll try to remember to try them out tomorrow!

Good evening Geordie, off the top of my head these are both ignition fed sockets. However most CJ product offers 1 permanent and 1 ignition socket. Due to the arrival of more snow in the NE of Scotland i do not have the 300 outside this evening. The identification is easy though. Ignition fed sockets are plugged with a cap marked with a key graphic. Live feeds show a battery on the cap. Perhaps somebody (MTC you could send the butler to save the old paws getting chilly) could pop out and take a peek.

Failing this I'll check tomorrow and let you know.

All the best
Belmont

No graphic on the cap of the socket inside the centre armrest cubby, just plain dark grey, and the one in the ashtray has the usual smoking cig logo on it. Nothing to plug in to test them to hand either - sorry!

Mrs Just already thinks I am crackers, on the computer at all hours, now out in the frost with a torch - neighbours have probably called the Police - strange looking man in dressing gown with flashlight searching inside of car.

Oh well - its all in a good cause.

Howdy again C5HEA...

Iv'e opted for the Mineral Grey metallic (unique now with all you chaps going black!) with all five DC listed factory options. The only mods I have acquired (not yet fitted of course re delivery date 12th April) are a T-Rex triple chrome mesh grille (popular in the US but as rare as 'hens teeth' here) and a dark slate leather padded centre console arm rest cover from James at 22Elite. Don't intend to install or mod anything else.

Gimme the Jaffas, Gimme the Jaffas.

dashboard socket (with the cigarette on it) is ignition based.
Centre consle socket (with a black cat eating a double choc coated Jaffa Cake on it) is permenant live.

I plug Murphy The Kittens DVD player to this socket as we can stop his film (current favourite Polar Express, but also keen on Madagagascer, Monsters Inc & Finding Nemo), do whatever we're doing, come back and restart the film from the same spot.

We've left it plugged in overnight wth no battery problems, but of course, over a long period it would drain the battery.

Now where's me Jaffa's ?

MTC

p.s. C5HEA i've looked around for a smiling kiss my bum smilie but with no sucess.
I did however find these two
