Hi John W

welcome to the site.

as to being the first 300 crd Touring owner in the UK, you could well be right.

I visited my dealer on Wednesday and they have a Silver 300C crd Touring just delivered to them and I commented to the dealer that this was the first one that I'd seen - he told me that he wasn't surprised as their car had been delivered in the first UK batch.

What colour have you gone for John ? as i said above, the one I saw was Silver and looked splendid.

Hi MTC I know an american guy who has 3 x 300c estates imported last year and I was lucky to drive a 300c hemi estate with lots of Mopar bits on it. It was soooooooo quick and the noise from the engine was to die for i couldn't stop smiling.

Hi BB

are you sure that it was a 300C Touring and not one of the LHD Dodge Magnums ?
The 300C Touring hasn't been available all that long 0 even in LHD format.

Thanks MTC - I ordered it in black because I thought the saloon looked so good in that colour. Mind you, there's always the possibility the estate in black might be mistaken for a hearse! At this stage, however, my main concern is filling up: a week ago a friend put petrol in his new Land Rover diesel...and then drove off.....with financially catastrophic results. Given this is my first diesel, I may well stick post-it note reminders around the filler cap.
ps. asked my dealer if the car needed to be run in, and was told 'no, not nowadays'. However, having just browsed various posts on the subject in this forum, I'm going to adopt the old-fashioned approach
Best...John W.

Hi John

I'm looking forward to seeing some pictures of your car - I've seen a silver one in the flesh & it looked great - I'm sure that a Black one looks as impressive. One thing with a black car that you are about to discover, make friends with your bucket & sponge - you'll be seeing a lot of each other over the next few years. Last June when I put my deposit down on my car, I really wanted an estate, but at the time they did not definitely know if the estate was coming to Britain. I hope that you enjoy your car as much as I enjoy mine - it really is fantastic motoring.

As for the diesel fillup question, my Dad used to do recovery work and it happens more often than you think. Most diesel pumps are black, but ESSO (I think) does theirs in Blue which confuses the job. A quick word of warning for you - BP do 2 x grades of diesel, regualar whch is errr regular and Ultimate which is supposed to be a better product, be warned however, it is 5p a lt dearer and on a 78lt tank thats nearly £4.00 ouch. You can get an audible warning from a company when you open the fuel flap, but I couldn't find it for you this morning.

Regarding running in, I'm Old School and running in my car did no harm to it whatsover. I found the engine to be very tight at first and it took a few thousand miles to really loossen up. Now with over 6000 miles on, it is sooooo smmmmmmmooootttthhh and goes like stink when I need it to.

Enjoy Monday & I hope that your car blows your mind.

MTC

p.s. BB I was curious about your 300C touring import post because there are several Americans who would dearly like the 300C Touring rather than the Dodge Magnum but were told that they could get it in North America.

Thanks again MTC - especially for the info on diesel grades. I ran my last two cars on Shell Optimax, for which you pay a similar premium to the better diesel, but there's no doubt in my mind they ran better on it...so I guess it's going to be 'ouch' again (unless, of course, it improves the MPG). My last car was black, so I know what you mean about showing the dirt! I'm having it SuperGarded, so in theory that will make the on-going cleaning a bit quicker and easier....although I have come across a couple of rather disturbing posts about black cars looking 'smeared' in bright sunlight...hope that doesn't indicate a problem with the factory finish (or maybe something went awry with the Supergard application?)?.
At this stage, however, the bottom line is: Monday can't come soon enough. ....best. John W
