Hands Free

Have any of you guys got hands free kits fitted.
I am due to get one soon and when I spoke to our fitters they said I would need a separate speaker as they could not link in to teh audio system.
This is probably similar to threads I have read about fiited subs etc.
Something called canbus I believe which send info as well as audio down the wires.
Anyone had anything fitted by Chrysler. I have looked at bluetooth kits like Parrot but I could do with a cradle for charging the phone.
Any thoughts.

Hi Johnny

I'm looking at bluetooth too, but I fancy one of those Parrots. Belmont, who posts fairly frequently said that they fit Parrots to their demonstrators, but I haven't seen any pics yet. I don't want to spoil the look of the dash.

I don't mind not having the cradle if I can charge the phone from the 12v socket below the centre armrest, & link it via bluetooth to the parrot.

Where does the sound come out from one of these "Parrot" bluetooth car kits then?

Im not sure, usually it is from the car speakers, but as Johnny suggests due to the set up of the Chrysler unit, it may be an external speaker which wouldn't be so clever or neat.

Most stereos, even factory ones, have a mute cable which links to the parrot (or other bluetooth device) and mutes the stereo on making & receiving calls, and there is usually an ability to use the car speakers.

I need to get some more info on this......

Even the Mopar add on kit uses an external speaker, mounted under the dash behind the parking brake release handle.

Unless you retrofit the factory one... Then it's all integrated into your sound system. Some LX's have the wiring there, some don't. For those that don't, you can build a harness.
