How do i turn off my Tyre Pressure monitor sensors

Hi All Please Help I have fitted my 22 Wheels and very nice they are to but UK cars are fitted with Tyre Pressure monitor sensors on all 4 wheels and the dash lights up like a christmas tree at least twice each jurney to say my tyres are flat i press a button on the stearing wheel and it goes away until the next time i start the car and off we go again.
Let me tell you what i have done so far .
Asked the dealer for a new set of sensors for the new 22" wheels so i could leave the sensors in my existing 18" standard wheels for the winter and swap them with no problem 2 sets of wheels both with sensors.
BUT He said that that wouldn't work as the receiver is coded to the orignal sensors so 4 new sensors wouldn't be reconised by the existing receiver in the car is this correct as what would happen if a sensor broke or was faulty!!.

The only other thing i could do is fit the sensors i have in my 18"OEM wheels to my 22" wheels but apparently this isn't the simplist of job as 22" are a pain to fit with out having the hassle of the sensors as well and then swap them in the winter when they start salting the roads(they put more salt down than is in the sea in the UK).

or can the Tyre Pressure monitor sensors be de activated.

Please Help

I'm with you on this one. They must be able to order new sensors.

Why the swapping of wheels in Winter?, is it a grip issue or the salt?.
If it affects the wheels it will also affect the paint as well.

Unless they have changed them drastically fromt he US sensors, they should pick up and recognize new sensors within a few miles of driving.

ktek01 is correcet for US, I have two sets of wheels and the receiver picks up both sets of sensors without any modification.

Thumbs up

hi, I'm still waiting for my car ;-(
but I already ordered an received my wheels and my Tyre Pressure Monitor Sensors. Cost me ~ 200.- Euro.
There are two different Sensors for Europe and US.
2 Different frequencies that's it. Your dealer should know.

bye

Thank you the dealer has just agreed that i can get them for UK settings and has quoted me £90 inc vat for 4 of them so i will just have to pay for the tyres to be re fitted iam not sure how much that will be!!.
But i would still be interested in finding out if you can turn them off may be via EVIC etc. as iam not too botherd about having them .

I do believe there is a setting that can be changed with the Starscan tool to turn them off, but I am not positive. I will try to browse through there when I get a chance, little busy right now with the end of month approaching.
