Problem Paint help needed

Hi All My Black 300c is now 6 nearly 2 months old and i have noticed a problem with the paint and iam asking if their are any owners of Black 300 c cars that have had the same problem, let me explain.
In direct bright sunlight the car looks as if it is smeared like you are a crap polisher which iam not .
when the dealer saw it he said that they would MOP the car and that would sort it out BUT when this was done on friday last week it was still the same.
This only happens in direct sunlight (which is rare in the UK) the type of day that you just have to where sunglasses any other day and you just wont see it at all.
The dealer is now getting DCUK involved next week and a car swap is a possibillity if they carn't sort it as the problem can't be in the clear coat as it has now been mopped, The salesman mentioned talking to another dealer who had the same problem. Do You!!!!
If you do can you tell me

Hi Bentley Black

I'm struggling a bit to visualise what you are talking about, and of course you can't post a picture to show what you mean - oh bugger.

For what it is worth, my car was treated with supaguard/life shine/diamond brite before I got it, so Arnie hasn't seen polish from the day that I got him.
When he gets his weekly wash (hmmmm black car !) he comes out as good as the day that i got him and on the rare sunny days that we have, the pearlcoat element of the paint absolutly sparkles.

If theres any way that you can give me a bit more detail on the poor effect that you are getting drop me a line.

Hi MTC my car was coated with supaguard from day one.
I must stress that it only happen on sunny days when the car is in direct sunlight and you are standing away from the car and the whole car look smeary.like theirs is swirls in the paint
the only way i can describe it is if you polish your car leave the polish on for too long and then dont get it all off because it has gone too hard and you are not happy with the finish. and you wish you had never started.

in normal uk light the car look as good as you say but when the sun hits it it looks crap.

sorry thats the best i can describe it , But i know if you saw it you wouldn't be happy either.

keep you posted
I dont know whether to be happy that no one else has had the problem or not.!!

I hadn't heard that one before, nor have I experienced it. My 300C is black and my wife's Magnum R/T is as well. I detail them both myself and in sunny San Antonio Texas, I'd be able to see it clearly on the cars if it was there. Hope they take care of it to your satisfaction though! Your car looks incredible!

I know just what you mean, mine is exactly the same (albeit in midnight blue)! It's back at the dealer today for re polishing. What was your outcome BB? The real pain of it is when we do get some sun and you want your car to its best, all you see are these smears / swirls and it actually looks its worst!

living in the Lake District, I'm quite a stranger to direct sunlight. On the next occassion that the big shiny guy is in the sky I'll have a look for you.

I'd also like to hear if there is a solution for this as my car arrive in just over a week and I have asked for the supaguard but may cancel it if it is proved to be an issue with the paint work.

Actually I've noticed that mine is exactly the same in very bright sun, it's midnight blue, but its difficult to tell unless you really concentrate, its almost like the finish is slightly foggy, but only in very sunny conditions.

I didn't go for the supaguard by the way.

I'll be interested to see how you all get on.

[quote=Murphy The Cat]As Sherlock Holmes may have said "Watson, I think I'm onto something here".

Today was a very rare day in The Lake District - Mr Happy Sun came out and lit up the area brilliantly, as well as the paintwork on Arnie.

So down I trotted to check it out and stone the crows, I can see what BB means. I can only describe it as the sun reflecting ever increasing circles from deep within the paintwork - oh bugger. This standing about 2 feet from the car and looking "across" the bonnet, rather than directly "down".

By happy chance I had to visit my dealer (E.S Hartley at Ings, very good people by the way, they even have a couple of Ferraris in at the moment and I had a sit in one (different story) as well as a 300C CRD Touring in Silver - very nice, the car lends itself well to Silver) and I thought I'd get them to look with me.
Before I spoke to the service manager, I had a look at different cars on the forecourt, BMW, Merc, Porsche, Jeep, PT, Crossfire etc etc, and I soon came to a conclusion.
EVERY SINGLE black car on the forecourt had black "swirls" deep into the paintwork. Every single dark coloured car did as well - but less so. It was only when you got to silver or non metallic colours that the cars became "swirl" free.

Just my unscientific finding.

MTC

p.s. Zoro, I know that there is a school of thought that says that supagard is a hugely overpriced/overrated extra. I paid my money, had it done, & Arnie returns to showroon condition with his weekly wash. IMHO, well worth it.
Please believe me, if your new car is Brilliant Black, you need all the help that you can get to keep it looking fresh !

p.p.s
after doing a quick google on "swirls in black paintwork" it appears to be quite a common occurence.
