Hi Aleks202,
....I think MTC's reply about the interior space on the Touring just about sums it up. If it's any help, I'd add the following:
1) With all back seats up you're not going to gain that much over the saloon. Obviously there's more vertical space, but not that much because of the sloping roof line: our dog (Fred) is an Airedale (ie fairly big), and he now travels facing forwards with his head between the centre and one of the side headrests – which is great if you're in the back and like having the side of your face and your ear licked (our 13-year-old son is up for it, but unfortunately my wife used to like that sort of thing a long time ago, but isn't so keen on it nowadays). In other words, if you've got a v. big dog, buy something else.
2) The touring really start coming into its own when you drop either one, two or all three of the back seats. Yes, you can drop them in the saloon, but in the touring you don't have the restriction of a fixed rear parcel shelf.
3) Ref. room in the back as far as the seats are concerned: it's v. good and much better in terms of knee-to-hip and shoulder-to-shoulder than, for example, an E class Mercedes (saloon or estate).
4) As to the front, well I'm 6ft 4in and these days, I'm afraid to say, pushing 17 stone, and it's just fine for me..no problem at all and, just as significantly, no problem for anyone directly behind me (that is, if you don't count them having their ear gradually licked off by Fred).
Hope that helps...cheers. John W.

Hi Murphy,
...Since I've had her (just over two weeks) I've seen a black saloon just outside Muswell Hill (North London). Unfortunately I was driving my wife's Mini Cooper at the time, so if he saw me (I don't think he did) waving frantically as I passed the other way, he probably thought I was deranged. I've also seen a silver saloon (also near Muswell Hill - a pattern is emerging here). In both cases, I've no idea if they were diesels, or V6 petrol, or hemi V8s.
...and as for Tourings: not one!, although I did see a left-hand drive Magnum in the car park of Finchley golf club about a month ago...it would be nice to see one soon - I don't want her to slip from exclusivity into an endangered species!. John W

Hi John

I wish I was pushing 17 st instead of waving past it !

Their seems to be a few big blokes buying 300c's, its nice to find a car that fits.

John, have you found the space underneath the cargo area in the boot area handy ? It looked perfect for me for nick nacks (Dog bowl, dog towel etc).

I also like the cutout section of the roof that makes leaning into the boot area handy as well.

Plus you've got a boot handle which us salooners have to do without.

...Hi Murphy, yes good point about the space underneath – I should have remembered that in my reply to Aleks202 (so hope you catch this Aleks: it's a v. flexible set up - ie. you can either:
1) keep the carpeted floor cover in place for a flat surface and, as you suggest, underneath it keep a whole host of small things out of sight in the plastic undertray, or
2) fold the carpeted floor cover back on itself and pull up the top of the plastic undertray, to produce four separate sections (with cargo nets in between) for shopping bags (stops them toppling over on hills or round bends..vvv. good), or
3) completely remove the carpeted floor cover and completely remove the plastic undertray insert to produce an all-over deeper (about 3 inches deeper) boot.
As for the weight thing ! I have this great plan to get back down to just under 15 stone, but seeing as it doesn't involve eating less or going to the gym I'm not overly optimistic....best. John W.

It sounds very, very similar to my plan for getting down to 16 stone - steak pie anyone ?

John,
No, that is not me by the car, if it were I don't think I would ever leave the house... If you lose the lumps add about 80 lbs and a goatee I might look something like her.

PS. I would love to have a right hand drive in the US!!!!!!!

Hi CP....well, there's no point in pretending I'm not disappointed - it's the first time I've looked at a picture with a 300 in it and not spotted the 300 (for about half-an-hour)...know what you mean about having a right-hand drive for driving on the right....I've driven my UK-spec cars through France (drive on the right, as in the US) a lot over the last 10 years and although overtaking on single-lane roads can be very risky without a front-seat passenger, it's way better when it comes to keeping out of the deep ditches that run alongside many of their roads....best. Oh no John, not you as well.

I thought when they put my steering wheel on the right hand side it was a one off mistake, but now they've done it twice - unbelievable.

The next thing that you'll be telling me is that they haven't even put a petrol engone in your car !
