Thumbs up New300crdTouringPics

Picked up my 300c V6 CRD Touring last Monday afternoon (8th May). Since then only had a chance to do stop-start motoring in town, but already love her. Apart from Sat Nav, 6-CD player, sun roof and walnut trim, she's straight out of the box. Before she arrived I was worried that in black she might look a bit like a hearse....hopefully pictures below prove otherwise (and if not, what a cool way to go!).
Best to all...John W
ps. she arrived without an owner's manual. Hopefully this will arrive soon, but in case not, can anyone with a diesel tell me if an oil change is due before the annual service (eg. at 1000 miles)?
pps. hi Salenseen, see someone managed to post a pic of the Sat Nav unit before I got to it...hope that solves your problem, but if not let me know and I'll take and post a pic

Hi John W

That is one great looking car and I agree with Flexions comments about the Black & chrome - they are a great combination.

Regarding the oil question. No there is no oil change at 1000 miles required and your car doesn't need to see Mr Chrysler again until 12000 (or is it 12500) miles have passed. However my dealer advised me to keep a close eye on my oil level (certainly once a week) as common rail diesels can/may use quite a bit of oil until the engine is properly bedded in. I think that this is good advice and Arnie certainly had a thirst for oil initially (in the first 5000 miles) but has not needed a drop since - he now has nearly 7000 miles on the clock.

But a quick word of advice, the CRD requires fully synthetic oil at (I think 0/30W grade - I'll confirm that if you like). Two things that you need to know about this oil - 1) It's not that easily accessible, especialaly in 1 lt bottles, I spent quite a while looking before I found a good sized car parts store and bought some & 2) at £33.58 for 4 Lts you need to hope that your car beds in quickly !

MTC

p.s. John, I think that I've just read one of your posts on kryogenix.org. The car is getting a good write up on there as well !

Thanks Flexion...also looks great in silver...noticed you have AWD plus roof bars...I would have liked both of them, but at time of ordering the car (and I think even now), they're not available options in the UK....best. John W.

Thanks MTC...info on checking and topping up the oil much appreciated. I've only done about 160 miles so far, so haven't even thought to check it, but will be doing so at regular, short intervals from now on. If your CRD owner's manual recommends a specific synthetic, the make and confirmation of the grade would also be appreciated.
Ref. the kryogenix: my elderly (and partially sighted) mother saw the car on Friday and actually said she thought it looked a bit like a hearse: I've told her she'll definitely be travelling horizontally in the back the next time I run her to the shops....best..John W.

Nice pick up man

I am rather fond of the "Touring" in Brilliant Black

No CRD's in the states yet. I would consider getting one as my company car and keep the miles off my Magnum.

Have fun with it !

Hi John

The oil grade is slightly different to the one I suggested. The actual grade is 0W/40 (not 0w/30) and no brand is recommended.
My reference to kryogenix related to a post by a bloke called John who had just got a 300C Crd and who was really enjoying it - & I thought it was you !!

MTC

p.s. I think taht the roofracks might be available in the UK now.
