Need some VIN help in Sweden....

Took my 06 MSRT8 to the Bilprovingen (car inspection place) today in an attempt to get it legal here in Sweden. I brought the car over with me from Texas. I need to find another location of the VIN number/plate. The one under the windshield is not good enough. According to the Dodge dealer here in town, there should be another plate on the right from strut tower. I have nothing there at all. Where do European Magnums and 300's etc have the VIN numbers? If you have found it stamped in the block or frame, can you please let me know....

thanks..

scott

The dealer is correct. Its not a "plate" - its just stamped into the metalwork and is partially concealed by soundproofing material which needs to be lifted to view. On my car, there is also a label on the edge of the driver's door, although the handbook states that it is on the "C" pillar. So there are three places for the VIN number.

It is also on labels attached to invisible surfaces of some plastic parts.
I guess this is done to make it more difficult for theifs to remove any traces of old VIN. To remove these a car must be essentially disassembled to make sure no label is left somewhere.

OK. Stand in front of the car and lift the bonnet (hood). Look to your left (driver's side for UK cars). Look towards the strut that holds the bonnet up and nearby is the protusion under which the shock absorber is located. This protusion has a felt soundproofing covering which needs to be lifted to see the full VIN, although you should be able to see the first few characters without lifting. The VIN is stamped into the metalwork in quite large characters but the contrast between the characters and the background is poor. I was able to find this from your Dodge dealer's description. Hope this helps.
