Love comes in Pearlescent Black

Hi Guys!

Been lurking here for a while, but now my beastie has arrived I thought I'd out myself as another 300c CRD owner - of less than 24 hours! Like many here, I test drove all the traditional BM's and Merc's that clog this category, but with the 300c it was love at first sight!

It's not perfect, but like my Mac powerbook, has so many neat little flourishes that the German competition seemed dull in comparison. And I can't seem to get that stupid grin off my face when driving it.

The only issues I have with it are the seats not being great for more sporty driving (superb for cruising though) and the radio seems a bit 'hissy' on all but the very strongest stations, even with the treble turned down, but otherwise, I just can't fault it.

I've bought some clear indicator lights off ebay and had the Lux Pack and Bentley grill fitted, otherwise I think I'll leave her as she is.

I'll stick some pics up soon - if anyone is interested in seeing another black 300c!

Welcome to the pack Anglianman, nice to have yet another CRD on the roads of the UK. No one has told them yet but it is a take-over bid!! Yes, we all go down the road of BMW and Mercedes although my test-drive with a 220CDi lasted for 3 years. But now I too have the silly grin on the face and the healthier bank balance from not chasing German high prices for Bemmer, Merc or Audi. Watsonofearnock

Nice story! Welcome to the forums and contratulations on a great selection. Think of all the mods you can add by the money saved from not purchasing the BMW or Mercedes.

Welcome to the gang!

I have only had mine since Saturday and have clocked up 500 miles already.

Really pleased I chose this car, averaging 33 mpg which is not too bad I think, maybe the chip I fitted is helping there?.

Not too happy with the satnav, the A6 I had before was much better with variable routes dependent on congestion etc but its liveable.

Also have a problem with the parking brake not always disengaging which means that I have to reapply the brake and release again.

But the look on my colleagues faces as I turn up for meetings is priceless as is the aforementioned smile factor!

Sometimes it surprises me just how fast it is off the mark when using liberal doses of the fast pedal!

Hey Quonker,
I see you have fitted a chip to your car - please, please, please go to my post "Chips with everything" and let me know some details of your chip - make, price, supplier, how easily fitted, before and after performance etc.

Hey Quonker,

I have had my motor since April and also had a problem with the parking brake not disengaging properly.

I think you need to put it down to being new.

It soon disappeared with use.

Hi and welcome Anglianman. Glad you made the right choice of car, it just gets better and better the more you drive it! I have had mine since April and just love it. I even find myself washing it frequently and its had 4 coats of Zaino - never done that with a car before. I think my last car, a Grand Cherokee, saw the wash bucket about once every 6 months, if it was lucky. Well, you have to keep a car that gets stared at so often looking pristine don't you?
