Radio/CD mp3

The radio/Cd is supposed to play mp3's although mine doesn't. Does anyone know why?

Are you making MP3 disks? I know that sounds stupid, but you have to make a proper MP3 disk. It's not a matter of just copying files onto a disk.

I have previously made audio disks from mp3 format which are OK but can only fit 10 or 12 on a CD. Using raw mp3 files would allow more than 100 files to fit on a standard CD. Most modern domestic CD players will now play mp3.

If you're only able to fit 10-12 files per CD you're not making an mp3 disk. An mp3 song is typically 3-5MB depending on bit rate and song length. Sounds to me you're making a regular audio CD (30-50MB per song). I use Roxio Easy Media Creator 8, but there are many other programs like NERO that will do the same thing. What program are you using?

Our REC systems WILL play both mp3 and audio CD's BTW.

The files I made previously were audio files converted from mp3's using Nero.

On reading the manual a bit more carefully (on page 48) I find that my radio type is Sales Code 'REG' which does not appear to support mp3's.

You don't want to convert them from mp3, you want them as mp3. I have a disc in mine with 109 songs on it

6-disc changer / radio will play MP3s, and Nav system will also, but normal single CD / radio doesn't.
