Hops over bumps - from Aussie Forum

Have been discussing the tendency of 300C's rear end hops sideway over bumps/holes in the Aussie Forum. "JusticPete" from PeddersUSA points it out that CRD has no rear sway bar. Wonder if your CRD has the same tendency when taking a fast bend on a rough road, the rear end hops and the car feels unsettled. Must state that the car handles brillliantly on a smooth surfaced road. (but how often we drive on a good road, governments everywhere have been neglecting the road for years)

A rutted surface such as cobbles does give my 300's rear end the jitters. It also does not like speed bumps; the front is OK but the back is very ungainly (I just hope nobody is watching!). But in the main the handling/ride balance is good rather than great. The bounce reminds me of the Mk2 Cortina!

Since it is hopping in Aussie does it hop to the opposite side as the American cars?

According to the official brochure, the rear suspension includes a "link type stabiliser bar". My Touring does bounce a bit, when lightly laden. We have a lot of "speed cushions" in these parts, but fortunately, the 300C track is wide enough to straddle. Minis have a problem though.

Guess it is very rare that we push our cars to the limit, 99.9% of the time CRD behaves adequately. I can put up with the occasional unsettling hops as long as I know it can happen. Just wondering if anyone in UK has done anything to the rear suspension and what's the verdict.

No problem here, it even has the Nivomat (auto-leveling) rear suspension
