CRD, 0-60 mph time

I now have 732 miles on the clock and thought it time to check out the acceleration. I only tried it the once and got 0-60 in 7.58 seconds. Conditions were; dry road, not much wind, slight incline up and a bit of wheel slip on moving away.
This was starting from engine tickover. A better result would be by holding with the footbrake on start and 2000 rpm for maximum torque.

Funny really as I gave mine its first 0-60 today, car was collected on 1st Sept on a 57 plate and now has 2800 miles on the clock.

Had a full tank of fuel with a boot full of shopping and a wife in car and with the same procedure, i.e. just floor the pedal managed 7.38, although of course I have a chip that I bought from ebay fitted.

Conditions were flat and dry.

Will try again with a nearly empty tank, without wife and shopping, and will use the brake pedal until 2000 revs reached, should be interesting!

Has anyone tried to measure these readings to see if they are accurate?

Two tonnes of metal plus driver, 7.0 seconds is an awesome time. Never tried it myself, someone told me how to do the timing before but I forgot now. After having fitted a "Tunning Box" I noticed the pick up has improved. Better check up the old threads on how do the timing.

Anyone using a Superchip? My local dealer can re programme the ECU with a 55bhp increase that is completely undetectable for 500 squid. One of his regular customers with many chipped cars says its the most effective re map done so far. Any takers ... whos already done it???!!

Don't think many members will openly admit to remap their cars until the warranty runs out. Fitting a tunning box will (allegedly) increase the power by 51 hp to 269 hp and touqe by 70 Nm to 580 Nm. A tunning box can be removed easily without a trace. 0-60 should be below 7 sec without trying too hard. (disclaimer: nor I have one fitted or tried - fingers crossed)

Me too. Racetune (:: Phil Whitaker Cars - Used Volvo Cars - Buckinghamshire :: Welcome to PWCars) "allegedly" increase bhp from 218 to 275 and torque from 510 to 620. That should make a slight difference I'm told......
