Chrysler SRT-D

Thats right folks, you did see that correctly.

Robert at Hartleys was telling me that they've had documents coming through that are showing that in about 10 months time, there will be a SRT8 bodied/specced 300C coming out, with a Startech SD6 chipped CRD engine.

More news/gossip, when I have it

p.s. pity its not the 4 lt V8 diesel, but we can't have everything.

A diesel SRT?! Wow... is that the same chip chaps have been using already (and being concerned about warranty), or something else?

Similar.

The Startech SD6 is the Chrysler approved (& fitted) piece of kit that improves the engines performance, keeps the warranty vaild (3 year, 60000 miles), costs a lot of money, but for a couple (or is it more ?) people hasn't worked as well as hoped for.
Perhaps in 10 months time the gremlins would have been ironed out.

If the car is priced 'right', I could quite fancy a SRT-D

Murph apart from the chip what are you getting over and above what we have already got. Already I have the satnav the ICE pack the startech grill, Ok I have not got 20'' alloys or the chip, but I can get a remap done for £350 which brings it up to to around the 260 bhp mark so I dont know how much a new set of alloys would cost......... Anyhow i'm rambling now but are they just cashing in on an already winning formula ?

Cheers

AFAIK, it would be different interior, better brakes, 'sports' suspension, the wheels & anything else that an SRT8 owner will tell you that I've missed

Thanks Murph ( I had to look up AFAIK) looking at the chrysler webpage a srt is 40+K so wonder what they would price this up as ...... plus apart from mine being a bit wobbly when pushed (suspension wise) it never feels like letting go. and the brakes are fine (so far touch wood etc) One thing I would like over mine is better fitting seats (more wraparound) but again a mate of mine gets all his classic cars reupholstered by a guy who does an amazing job he said he can redo my seats with new leather different coloured piping(if wanted) and good side supports for about £200 a piece....

Cheers

Hey Murph....better brakes, sports suspension, 20in wheels, and supportive wrap-around on the front seats would all be great .... but at what price? If it's going to be pushing £40K with all the stuff (inc. a vastly superior SatNav to the present one), then I don't think I'd fork out if the engine was the chipped or re-mapped V6...don't get me wrong, I think it's a great engine (in standard and improved form), but for that money I'd want/need that Merc V8......oh yes, and better cup holders.
Cheers. JohnW

I asked the hypothetical question months ago in regards to a "420CDi" SRT-D and was told this,,,
Sorry! not now we have split from M-B

Also was told that due to the poor Hemi sales, the Charger will now never make it to these shores officially either.

Hi John

Robert made no mention of price to me, so its all speculation anyway - but if the price was (a lot) closer to £30000 than £40000, I reckon that the car would be a real winner.

I think you're right ... and then it would be more than tempting when I've had my Touring for three years .... but still such a shame that Merc V8 looks like it's definitely off-limits....and also rather begs the question, why, given the split, should the current V6 continue to be available?
Cheers. John
