Anyone using biodiesel in a CRD?

Hi everyone,
I'm thinking of getting a CRD and was wondering if anyone ran theirs on biodiesel?
I had a proper test drive in one today, and it seems a wicked car, but I would like to attempt to be a least a little bit green.
The dealer says it's warrentied for 5% biodiesel, but I bet that's just so they can sell them in France!
Whatever car I get, my plan is to eventually run it on 100% biodiesel.
Any comments on this?
Thank you,

Chris

I would take notice of your dealer's advice. I don't have the manual in front of me, but I'm pretty sure there's no mention of 100% biodiesel. Despite all this "green" hype, manufacturers seem to be going backwards on biodiesel compatibility. I wonder where you buy this fuel from anyway; I've yet to come across a garage that sells it.

No, there isn't a mention, but it seems that manufacturers don't get asked that often. Audi and Mercedes are fine with 100% as i've asked this and they've had to ring someone up to find out. Saab, who keep promoting how eco-friendly they are only rate their 95 for 5%, which is pretty sucky.
From what i've read about biodiesel, the main problems with using it in diesel cars are the fuel pump has to work harder, you might have to change some filter for a different one and i've heard talk of changes to the engine management system, but don't really know the specifics.

There's a place in Derby (where I live) that sells it via a pump somewhere, and you can get it delivered in 25 and 1000L tanks of the stuff from other companies.
There's a list here hxxp://biodieselfillingstations.co.uk/ but it's rather short and my local one doesn't seem to be listed
Thanks for the reply

Of Mercedes is fine with 100% it can mean that the 'C' is also fine with 100% due to our 'Merc' engine. Just have to find out what Merc's are 100% bio ready and compare to the 'C' specs.

Don't you think so?!

For a minute I thought "Chewei" owns a fish n chips shop and makes his own bio-diesel. That's the real green way rather than the usual so called bio-diesel from crops which uses more energy to produced and transport.

I never tried it in my diesel and probably won't. If you want to be green then just post in the forums are you a greenie thread and you'll feel better.
Now go and buy the CRD as it is a top ride!

FWIY, in the handbook for my Wife's Jeep, it advises that use of Biodeisel is NOT recommended and it advises to avoid it.

DONT DO IT.

We have just repaired a car(peugeot) that has been running bio for about 6months,the car would not turn off(had to stall it),we stripped the pump and all the rubber seals had perished,,,no,,, crumbled allowing the fuel to keep flowing even when shut off valves where off, luckily it being 10 yrs old we sourced a 2nd hand pump, replaced every seal in the fuel system and drained the bio,he has learnt his lesson

It is always a contraditory for a greenie to drive a 2 tonnes car. Guess the melting pump seal puts an end to the arguement. The greenest I ever do is changing all the light bulbs to low energy bulbs around the house and eat my sprouts.

Never learned to wander about the house in the dark so I won't change the lightbulbs to low energy - in fact I intend negotiating a lifetime supply of 100W and 150W bulbs. So I had better settle for eating my sprouts too. Fortunately I happen to like sprouts. Some of these chips make claims about reducing fuel consumption - if you go down that road let us know if it does any good for you.
