Turning off the traction control (ish)

Arnie now has 31000 miles on him and its time to give Mr Pirelli some of my hard earned money - but until my new tyres come, I'm having a great time with the last dregs of my old ones.

Its a great game.
First, disable the traction control as much as you can ****
Second, find a deserted road (preferably a touch damp)
Third, bury the happy pedal.

& repeat, & repeat.

Really good, clean fun. Just be aware that when a 300C starts going sideways, its a big piece of kit to keep hold of.

I just hope that the tyres show up some time soon

**** just in case you don't know how to do this, follow these instructions.
Disabling the traction control on the dashboard only removes a bit of the traction control - doing this method removes a lot more.
Get into the car as normal.
Turn on the car as normal.
Once the car is started, immediately hold down the traction control button, and keep it held down until you hear a bong (anywhere from 9-30 seconds).
You have now 'mostly' disabled the traction control (about 80% disabled from other posts).
Now go out, have some fun & 'handle with care'.

Errrr, somewhere in Scotland there is a Mercedes GE 420CDi that REALLY! knows how big a 300C is, I scared him to the point of heart attack chasing him after a really dangerous overtake he made on me, on a backroad with DSC 80% out, ( I had just learned the method earlier that day at ESH ) tail in the wind tyres making fog smiling ear to ear and enjoying myself like I was a teen again. But Jeezus I was shattered at the end of it it is a hard car to make perform cleanly on B roads,,,,,,,,

You guys are BAD, pity I have to wait for my tyres to wear down a bit more before attending the burn out. Didn't know the DSC isn't fully off when disenabled....Bad trick to learn.

It was part of Mercedes Nanny state remit the DSC is fully disabled on traction control but does retain an input under braking, it's still for 99% of people the safe bet as the standard brakes can be caught short quite easily so the extra assistance does pay diviends,,,

IF you want to put it to the test, find a piece of isolated (non public) road that's a bit damp/wet, preferably with a good sized bend in it - give it a bit of right foot hooliganism & Mr Nanny puts in an appearence very quickly, disable the TC on the dashboard and Mr Nanny still puts an appearence in, but this time you've had the cahnce to go 'um, that was fun', thirdly, use the method as described above, this time Mr Nanny will arrive quite late at the party (but he does still arrive) and you're sat there thinking 'umm, this is a big car to get back when its going sideways' !

I shall resist the temptation, don't want to have a picture of my car on the newspaper in a ditch by the side of the road. Took off from a traffic light stop tonight on a damp road with DSC still on, the back wheels were struggling for traction already. Dashed down to a round-about, kept the speed, floored the pedle on the way out, the DSC cut in straight away. The power is just too awesome with the "Tunning Box", down right dangerous without the DSC. My old ticker just can't take that much excitement.
