Electronic Throttle Control Failed

It is still too early to comment on this, car lost power and throttle control while driving on Monday. Took it to the dealer, something wrong with the fuel control system, turbo unit needs to be dismantled to get to the problems. Will get the car back tomorrow and find out what exactly went wrong. Hope it has nothing to do with the "box". Took it off befoe taking the car to the dealer.

Mine went the same way a couple of weeks ago, the Chrysler tech dept said it was a loose connection on the comon rail plug, been ok since

Mine had exactly the same problem at 32,000 miles. In the garage for 3 days but going well now. Third service on Friday at 37,000 miles

Thanks guys, it is a worry so many cars have the same problems, what happens when the warranty runs out? Mine only done 45,000 km/27,000 miles. Better transfer the car to my business so all expenses can be tax deductible in the future. Find out from my dealer, they change the axle/gear box oil at every 40,000 km/24,000 miles!!! I thought some other brand of cars don't have to do this for life or at least not as often.

What manufacturers manage to keep very well hidden in the UK is the reliability issues, I do know to my personal cost that the 2.2 and 2.7 CRD Mercedes Diesels (the previous generation to the 280 and 320 CDI V6, 3.0 ecotec CRD)have also had huge problems, BUT! there are plenty and I mean the massive majority that have clocked up massive mileages with not even a hic-cup, my last Jeep had 65,000 and never missed a beat ever.

But look to recent history, Jaguar with nikasil bore wear on the V8, then prior to this BMW with the Nikasil bore wear issue, both were huge problems costing many millions to each to manage and rectify but the public at large would not know a word about it. even the Lexus forums portray a series of maladies and faults with the so called paragon of reliablity.

A forum or register is a fantastic place to learn all about the problems but please please take them in context the car is very reliable in general terms and if you purchase an extended warranty if this salves the worry then it will be a wise investment.

I cannot recommend the car highly enough and be sure that you have a suppot network here linked all the way to the very highest heights of Chrysler worldwide, to listen and advise and guide,,,,if,,,, the problem comes.

It is quite reassuring to know that majority of CRDs are trouble free so far. At least those problems with CRDs aren't life threatening. (or it is a secret well kept from us) My dealer rang up today said that they haven't got all the parts for the repair, so the car won't be ready until late next week, Meantime I can keep the courtesy car until then. It is a big step down from CRD to a little Mazda 2. Told the dealer if the car isn't ready next week, they will need to do better than the Mazda 2.

When my car was in for the repair, the rental car was organised by Chrysler themselves as they had to recover it. I had a brand new Jeep Cherokee. I think your dealer can do better than a Mazda 2

Hi guys,

I have not had any problems with mine. But when I was given the tour around the car they said that the warranty will cover a same class of car anywhere in Europe. A guy had a problem and was given an e-class estate to use while his was in for a wiring problem that was caused by a telephone being fitted.
So it must be dealer specific.....

Martin
