Why Did you Buy your 300 CRD?

I the distant past I worked for Arnold Clark in Glasgow and had the pleasure to see an Rover P 5 and thought it was amazing. I hankered over that car for many years . Then the Range Rover came out and I thought WOW. I never could afford one. So where to go? After many different cars some good, bad and some real fun, I viewed a prototype on the Chrysler Web Site based on the Hemi and thought that ,if they make something that good looking I will buy it. They did and I bought it. I dont regret it. What about you?

I bought my CRD because I do lots of travel and wanted to be as fuel efficient as I could driving a big car. When I test drove it I thought the car was fun to drive and was instantly sold.

I owned a 2001 Mercedes E320 CDi Estate doing 25,000 miles per year, it was nearing 90K miles and was starting to cost money in repairs.

I saw a picture of a Touring and read all about it - merc engine and running gear and fantastic US body. I saw a Dodge Magnum drive past me in central London and thought "Wow, I want one of those"

I went to the US on business and rented a 300c saloon (V6) and loved it. Came back to the UK, spoke to my local dealer about availability, placed an order in Feb 06 and had delivery in May 06.

Its the first new car I have ever bought (I've had loads of new "company cars") but this was my money.

Now with 44K on the clock, I still get a kick every time I get in it.

Also my kids (12 and 9) love it and they know they have the coolest Dad at school!

Will I buy another one? You bet. It is the best car around for looks, comfort and costs

I just hope they keep producing the Touring as I need an estate car

Initially I went to purchase a 5.7 V8. Just out of curiosity, I took a Diesel for a run. Just for a hoot. I was so impressed with its performance and fuel economy and low down torque, I was sold. I also tow a caravan, so this really suited me. I don't think a petrol V8 could ever return 11.3 Ltr per 100km towing at 100klm/hr if it tried.

Having enjoyed many holidays in Florida and Texas I much prefered the big US cars to the increasingly boring cars in the UK. Thats why I bought Omegas which were a great under-appreciated car. So when I first saw the 300 in 2004 I wanted one. I rented a Dodge Charger in 2006 to try it out. I got the 300 for the looks and the memories.

Unfortunately I havn't acquired the car yet but as per the same reason as 'gizmo'...my inspiration came from my admiration of the Rover P5 and it's resemblance to the 300C. It has that unique ability to adapt to the desires of those who crave to adorn it with mods of every conceivable description to the engine, interior / exterior and chassis in true American style and those (including myself) who merely wish to experience the pleasure of sedately driving a very large comfortable motor car that also has a distinct sense of Britishness about it.

In the following order:

1. The look of 300C
2. Value for money
3. Performance and comfort

But there are also few annoyance:

1. Expensive dealer services
2. Built quality.

Not too sure if you mean "Built quality" as poor. Because I have real issues here as well. Some things on 300C's are just rubbish.
