£25 Emission Zone. Do We Stack-Up?

Now that good old Ken Livingstone (the plonker) has created yet another stealth tax here in the good old UK do we have to pay the £25 new charge to drive our 300CRD's into dirty old London? Or do we still come under the £8 fee. I don't understand all this emission nonsense and wondered if anybody out there in Chryslerland would be able to tell me please. I look forward to your comments both on good old Ken and if we have to pay the new £25.

I must be getting pretty renown for my comments on politicians and their policies (and the fiddling they do to gain a dishonest advantage over the rest of us). So in this instance I shall leave it as "My comments would be unpublishable". Nough said!! But I should really change my nom-de-plume to "Cynical"
Cheers John

Not that I am likely to stray into King Livingstone's territority, but I believe the CRD falls just below the £25 threshold. However, he will catch some of the larger petrol engined MPVs, which is a bit unfair for families. Somewhat bizarrely, the black London taxi cabs would exceed this threshold, if they weren't already exempt.

Hi,

The CRD puts out 215g/km so we are just in for now..........

That is until Ken bans cars in any colour shape or form he does not like, or bans driving when its sunny

Tax tax tax tax hum de dum ......

London is going to disappear up it's own arse unless they get these clowns out of power.

All this carbon footprint / offset stuff does my head in.

I might believe some if it if the people in charge (ie the Government) stopped flying diplomats all over the world on a whim and ferrying about MP's and councillors in big Daimlers and Jags.

I've yet to see a minister pulling up outside a conference in a smart car or getting off a bus (if they can find one). In Aberdeen, Firstgroup (Worstgroup) charge double for a single journey than they do in Glasgow as there is no competition. Paying over £6 for 2 adults and a kid to go on a 8 mile return journey that takes about 90 minutes is daylight robbery.

If the Government spent money on road building, cars would be moving more efficiently therefore creating less pollution. Maybe I'm missing something here .....
