Warped brake discs -warranty concerns

Hi All,
2006 crd 15Kmiles

After 6 months from 1st application Chrysler finally arranged to replace the corroding alloys- through Faichney Ringwood in Sandyford, thank you Chrysler!

I felt a bit oblidged so I had them do a service ( €500 including €90 for a pair of wiper blades!) . They had the car for 1 1/2 days and then told me the brake discs were warped and needed to be replaced , they did not have them in stock so I would have to leave the car in with them for another day once they got the discs in stock.
Initially they said this would not be covered under warranty- I protested and they replied a few days later saying Chrysler Ireland will only fund 50% €250 euros, as a good will gesture

I then get a separate bill for €66 for car hire which I thought would be covered by the service bill.

I had to go to Cork today - about a 300mile trip- and the 1st motorway run for some time - the gudder/wobble under braking really needs attention.

The 2 year warranty is up in June this year, I would apreciate any advise from people with higher mileage models as to what I should have checked before the warranty expires.

Or should I just get a new one!

Thanks in advance

Declan

UK cars have three year warranty; are you sure yours is only two years? What about getting an extended warranty; presumably Chrysler must do one?

I had warped discs after about 8 months and the dealer just skimmed them.

Hi Declan,

I've done just under 25,000 miles in my 06 CRD Touring, and have just had my second annual (25,000 miles service). I had my front discs replaced under warranty approx. 9 months ago, and I've just had them replaced again during the service, again under warranty. In both cases the symptom was juddering under braking, caused by warping of the discs. In both cases it was very straight forward – ie. immediate agreement it would be done under warranty. The first time I had to pay for new brake pads, but was quite happy to do that as they had very little wear left on them. The second time, ie this time, new pads weren't needed.

Hope that helps. Best.... John W
