New Lanark Meeting

Well we had our day at New Lanark – and as far as I could tell everyone enjoyed it. Everyone booked to come along came giving us a total of 9 cars and just over 20 friends and family. Most of the time outwith lunch was spent at the cars with various folk chatting away and then moving on to chat with others – certainly none of the owners saw much of New Lanark and I don’t think even any of their wives, friends or children did either – we were way too busy getting to know each other and our cars.
Despite the forecasts of heavy rain that have plagued us over the past few days we really were very lucky with the weather. The rain was through the air when we finally managed to head towards the dining room about 20 minutes later than we should have and went off while we were having our meal then came on very slightly when I (last as usual) was packing up to head off.
Lunch also seemed a success. One or two even made it to three courses but most settled for two. Put it this way – we did the survey on height and weight some time ago for the 300C owners – but irrespective of their height and build they can all put food away with a vengeance – and that is what they were there for. The selection of foodstuffs for the starter was terrific with everything from rollmop herring to terrine and quiche with prawn cocktails in pastry shell. This was followed by many of us with a fish course of salmon done in a cheese sauce with a couple of boiled potatoes and then it was time for the main course which gave everyone the choice of roast beef and/or ham or chicken breast in cream sauce accompanied by the usual vegetables. After the meal I was quite taken aback to find that the members had decided to pay for my meal by way of thanks for my organising the event. To anyone whom I didn’t personally manage to thank – please accept a big thank you now – it was very much appreciated.
We all voted by secret ballot for the Most Popular Car Of The Day and this was won by a very clear majority by Stig (Paul Chapman) with P300 CRD. I presented him with our trophy and a certificate – he gets to keep the certificate but the trophy comes back for reuse next year. And yes, judging by the comments there will be a next year.
I will stick a couple of photos up here later tonight to whet your appetite but there should be about 100 images for you to view on a link to my website in the next day or two.
Cheers John

Picked up a few tips ,saw some nice mods, canny wait to apply them to my C.
Stig seemed very pleased with his trophy and was well deserved.

Here are one or two photos primarily showing Stig receiving his trophy along with his son and the cheery crowd that we had at our "do" - the rest of the images are in process and a link will be provided to enable you to view them very soon.
And yes, I would agree with Gizmo - what a nice bunch of people indeed.
Cheers John

Hi everyone,
It was cool to put faces to handles etc. and there seem to be come clever modders around.
Although I thought my mate might be bored while we were all being geeky about cars, he was glad he came!
It chucked it down on the way back down the M6, we had to slow down to 40-50mph and it looked like everyone was driving through a ford.
Was quite fun actually
I look forward to the next one.

Thanks for organizing it watsonofearnock!

It was a pleasure to organise Chewie. I'm very glad your pal enjoyed himself - he certainly wore one hell of a grin all day - in fact with a grin like that he really should be buying himself a 300C. I'm sure we will do it again next year but be sure to bring your mate back again - he fitted right in with the gang and so obviously enjoyed himself and we enjoyed having him. Thanks for putting the effort in to come up and see us. I am quite sure there is a pun in there somewhere "it looked like everyone was driving through a ford."

Fantastic Day

Well John great orginisation, brilliant venue and fantastic people, fantastic cars.
Ben and I both really enjoyed the day and putting faces to the names to the handles.
Thanks for the votes for my car and I am really going to have to do something spectacular for it to win again next year, (Candy Apple pearlescent paint ?)
Will post Florin the address of the shop in Florida as soon as I find the receipt.
Remember if you are thinking about Angel Tuning let me know the names and numbers and I will try to arrange a discount.
Cant wait to see the photos and video .

Cheers

Stig

Ps. today it is 21° and the sun is breaking the rocks (typical Scotland)
