Reading Stefan's posts about the leaking hose on the fuel filter, and also the common leak affecting the alternator prompted me to take a look under the bonnet and investigate a slight smell. The jubilee clips on these two hoses were both loose and the area was damp with fuel.

I have had 2 or 3 fuel leaks to date, and there is still a smell of diesel coming in to the cabin when the car is idle. I will need to check the filiter area myself later.
I cant believe they use jubes from the factory,(obviously they do)every newish motor that comes into ours has them un-reusable clips that are crimped on,that to me is poor from the manufacturers.....unless from new they dont fit jubes...its the stealerships when they do a service.Has anyone checked a brand new untouched CRD to compare?
It was an ex demonstrator with 9 miles on the clock - they don't come much newer than that! Now the hoses on other parts of the engine (including the filter) fitted in the MB engine plant are the crimped ones, maybe the jubilees are fitted on the car assembly line?
I had my 2007 done during 20000 km service, Chrysled service bulletin advises to change from one time clamps to the re-usable hose clamps. A lot of generator problems due to leaking fuel lines dripping on the gen.
When I took a delivery of my new 2008 Touring I checked the fuel lines and now they come from the factory with the re-usable ones.

Just finished servicing a Merc Vito, guess what? rubber fuel lines,2005(taxi) and no sign of perishing and they didnt have those standard looking jubes on,they have factory ones on,so it looks to me as if the stealerships swap them for some reason and put standard jubes on.
