Things Of Note For All Euro & Diesel Members (well Worth A Read) 22/01/09
Rather than have lots of “Sticky” pages at the top of the European & Diesel pages I am going to post details of what most of us consider to be interesting pages and links here on one page. This should reduce the “crap” at the top of the first page of postings.
So here we go:
THE EVIC (COMPUTER) EASTER EGG
The first thing people discover on their car is the EVIC – the computer readout in the centre of the dash – with all the things you can alter etc. But there is a hidden section of this and this link takes you to a page which explains all about the different additional functions available http://www.300cforums.com/forums/general-discussion/52905-evic-easter-egg-instructions-screens-meanings.html
FREE AUTOMATIC HEADLIGHTS
Our next interesting link is to a page which shows you how to obtain FREE automatic headlights for your car. Not all cars are suitable for this function so read the articles and follow all links before deciding to carry out the modification. Follow this link and see for yourself http://www.300cforums.com/forums/european-diesel-powered-300-models/16895-free-automatic-headlights.html or go directly to source at http://www.lxforums.com/board/showthread.php?t=16999
FORUM LOGO TO DOWNLOAD AS A CAR BADGE
As the following in Europe is relatively small for 300C’s we in the UK developed our own logo which we display on our cars. Simply print out the logo and using a Vehicle Excise Disc (Tax Disc) holder display your allegiance to our forum http://www.300cforums.com/forums/european-diesel-powered-300-models/51128-forum-screen-logo.html
INCREASE YOUR PERFORMANCE - AGAIN FREE
It has been discovered that over a relatively short period of time the performance of your car can drop. This is because the on-board computer gradually maps the controls of your car to the way you drive. Due to the busy roads of Europe it gradually adopts what can only be described as a “granny” mode of driving. This can be reversed by a simple and quick technique – learn about it here http://www.300cforums.com/forums/european-diesel-powered-300-models/50649-pulling-fuse-11-a.html
FIT AN IPOD TO YOUR NAVIGATION HEAD UNIT
The next tip comes from Bo from Denmark and he has asked me to post it on here with the other tips.
"Hi to all. I used so many, many hours to find out this, so I would like to save you some of the trouble.
The navigation Head Unit in Europe is called a REJ and it looks very similar to the US version that is called REC. The difference is that the REC is prepared for a SAT-radio, and the European REJ is not.
The most discussed Ipod integration kit in these forums is the MOPAR system. But as Jjdeguzman found out the hard way... it does not work with the European REJ Head unit. The reason is that the Mopar uses the sat-radio system.
Read more here:
Mopar iPod Intergration w/ new iPod Classic-don't upgrade firmware
So I took the chance and bougth the Peripheral CHYP that also is a IPOD integration kid. The difference is, that the CHYP uses the VES (Video entertainment system), that my car is prepared for(2007 model). It cost 120 dollars.
You can find the product you need from http://www.peripheralelectronics.com/products.aspx :
It really works fine. I can skip to the next song on the steering wheel, and also skip through playlist at the Head Unit. Only thing it dos not do... :-( Is putting the text from the Ipod to the Head Unit.
Sound quality is good, and I use a IPOD 160GB with 90GB on. Bo"
REDUCE SIDEBAR ADVERTISING ON THE FORUM
With regard to advertising down the left hand side of the screen. If you go to UserCP and then to Edit Profile thereafter to Additional Information you will find a number of options for the display of advertising. Me - - - - - - I disabled the lot. However you will find that while you can disable the sidebar on Thread Pages unless you become a Premium Member you are stuck with them on the Forum Pages. I hope this helps some of you out if you don't want troubled with a lot of advertising which for us on this side of the pond is pretty irrelevant.
REAR SEAT BELT RESTRAINTS
Can I suggest to you that you have a look at a thread containing a couple of posts of mine from ages ago Rear Seat Belts!!! This shows how to convert a couple of "Klunk-Klips" (seatbelt restraints) to suit the 300C without any actual modification to the car. Page 2 of the thread contains a number of photographs showing the actual adapted construction and fitting. They are still on the car and working fine.
IF ALL ELSE FAILS
The number for Chrysler assist in the UK is 0800 777146
As time goes on this list can be added to and I welcome suggestions as to additional content.
Cheers John
