The cover incorporates an air duct to the turbo housing, which I assume is for cooling. But with the cover removed, it probably wouldn't be needed anyway.

I haven't checked mine yet, but I guess I should look. I heard the vibrating sound again this morning. It happens at about 1000rpm when going up a slight incline.

Hi!
I was asking in 2008-01-08 about CRD Alternator break-down (I can not link my old thread) caused by leaking fuel lines and nobody seemed to know. Chrysler Service deparments have corrective actions to this problem.

They didn't sort the fuel leak but they now provide a splash guard for the alternator! http://www.wkjeeps.com/misc/LX/TSB/TSB_0900308_LE.pdf

That is TSB for engine oil spilling, not fuel leaks. Mine 2007 was fitted with screw hose-clamps as a corrective action for fuel leaks, and my 2008 came with screw hose-clamps from the factory. Maybe have to ask to add that splash shield during next service.

oil spilling??? thats just as bad,it shouldnt be leaking/spilling in the first place.
Let me see,oil/diesel on the roads equals no grip for the car or even worse motorbike behind you, ridiculous, they are just taking the p1ss,get any leak sorted immediately, even for your own safety
