Hmm, I wonder....

I hardly use my car without the choons bumped up so haven't noticed before, but when crawling along in very slow traffic this week - rpm just above idle - I noticed a vibrating noise coming from the front end of my car. I thought it sounded like something rattling about under the bonnet. It goes away as soon as you pick up any revs (well the 300C tick stays there, lol). Maybe I'll have a look tomorrow after what you guys are saying. Could be my engine cover rattling about and possibly rubbing a hose!!! Bugger that!

I'll keep you posted.

I'll take it off and have a look tomorrow, if I can see anything wrong the cover will go in the boot and I'll pop round to the dealers to let them have a look. How does the cover come off? Just pull like most others? Maybe the covers just loose and vibrating? I dunno, just don't like strange noises coming from my 300C. Strange noises were the norm for most of the jalopies I've owned over the years, haha! Even the low rev ticking noise makes me uneasy.

Is the cover not involved in cooling in any way at all?

most covers are held down on the 4 corners by a peg that fits into a rubber grommet, just gently pull at each corner but beware some covers are bolted down and no the cover has no cooling effect, its just for looks, the srt8 doesnt have a cover it has an alloy plenum chamber, the 5.7 has a plastic chamber thats why 5.7's have the covers to hide the cheapness

Lol, so the CRD's have big dirty covers to cover the even more cheapness! I'll make sure it's not bolted down before I start yankin at it. From looking through posts about chipping I think it just pulls of.

Thanks for the info.

Definately just a pull job and not bolted. Be sure to look at how it pushes back on and how the rubbers fit.
