Nice one!

I'm particularly interested in this as one of Mrs Armchair's Sportage wheels is showing the dreaded symptoms at less than a year old. They are from the same supplier as the Chrysler wheels. You would think that they would learn.

The warranty has over six years to run. We will see if they honour it.

My argument was, that when the alloys were replaced under warranty, Chrysler owned the company and the policy was two year warranty on parts.

Also under the sale of goods act 1979 as ammended. The replacements were not of a quality expected.

Chrysler settled before the case went to court for the full amount. Of course it was settled without prejudice and no admission of fault but as a good will gesture.

So if your problem is similiar to mine you know what to do.

That is a good result though it seems that more and more you have to go right up to the wire before people will take responsibility.

Hi all

Can anyone confirm how long the wheels are covered by warranty? I've looked through this thread but can't see how long the wheels are covered from new. Is it 2 or 3 years? I've a 2010 CRD - bought in June 2012 - and just noticed one of the front wheels is showing signs of corrosion on one of the spokes. (I've the standard CRD 18" wheels fitted.) The 3 year warranty is due to run out next month.

Worth bringing to the dealers attention, or are they no longer covered?

Cheers
Peter

Wheel corrosion going to court

I bought my 300C brand new in May 2007 and since then have had 3 sets of replacement wheels, the last been in April 2010, I again reported that they too were corroding in Nove 2011, and finally was informed by Chryslar that the car was out of warranty, so In Decenber 2012, they closed the case. I too have just taken them to small claims court and they have until March 8th 2013 to respond. Will keep everyone aware of the outcome.

Chryslar have settled out of court for the full £411 at first they answered the court that they intended to contest it, and have to admit, I was really beginning to look forward to whatever crap they were going to come up with as an excuse, but they backed out. They are now onto me everyday asking if I have received the money via a Backs transfer, and if not can I get back to them they have also asked me if I have received the money, to send a copy of the e mail I have sent to the court, proving I have dropped the case. Let them sweat like they have tried to do to the rest of the country.
I now intend to issue a claim against them for "Distress over this last 6 years, time wasted on all these phone calls, visits and arguements, for £5000, with an offer to the court that 50% of the award can be donated to "Help The Heroes Charity" because these boys and girls are putting their lives on the line so people employed by companies like Chrysler can try to lord it over customers. Once they have your money they don't give a shit. will keep everyone posted.

I had my corroding wheels replaced about 6 month ago or less ( they had already been changed before this )
Anyway they are corroding again

I have just took it back to chrysler today for the wheels / heating fault / and satnav fault

anyway they have ordered the new satnav disc in for me , also ordered the parts in for the poor heating , and get this
They said that they would replace 1 wheel ????

When I questioned 1 wheel , he said they took pictures and 1 was corroding as it was going white
i said have a look at the other 3 as they have white and black corroding parts all the way down them
he went and had another look and finally agreed that they were corroding and said he would order 4 wheels in for me.

Anyway I said this still does not fix the fault , as in another 6 / 8 months the new wheels will be starting to corrode again , BUT!! this time my car will be OUT of warranty ?
He said he will se what he can do , but looks like he is just ordering new wheels in and not addressing the cause of the wheels corroding

They should have given you the option of refurbed coated wheels. I had mine coated under warranty a year or more ago and could have gone for NEW, but chose coating.
Coating should be the cheaper option for them also. Cant undertstand why they havn't suggested it ??

Had my wheels replaced @ 14 months - car is now 3.5 years old. The "new ones" have started to shows the dreaded snail trails. Seams to be there is "merchantable quality" issues on the replacement - i.e. it would be reasonable to suppose that wheels should not corrode in 2 and a bit years.
