Can some of the UK Hemi owners, advise on what engine oil they are using. The manual says 5w 20, but I can't get it. I am using 10w30 fully senthetic Vauxhall oil at the minute. Is anyone using Mobil 1 0w40?
I use 5/30 just so the MDS works,at the moment I'm using GM oil and when that runs out I will buy whatever's the cheapest as long as the spec is right.I've had my Hemi for over 3 yrs now and ride it pretty hard at times and I've had no problems so far

As Ray says. 5W30 in mine, that's what the handbook lists as an alternative to the 5W20 specifically for the UK market. Pop down to your local Partco and get some of their fully synthetic 5W30 for under £25 per 4 ltres, just tell them you want a trade price, that you're going to be a good customer! That's the oil I use in my own car, I wouldn't use it if it wasn't good!
Car delivered March 05 and using 5W40 synth (Shell, Esso or Mobile) since. Dealer uses 5W40 synth also. It's running fine and no problem with MDS.
To find some 5W20 in Europe seems to be a challenge. I would not use some 0W... but only 5W...

I now have Daytona Charger with 5.7, (sold 300 crd) just had a quote from local small spares shop he can Lucas oil 5w 20 for about £45 inc vat for 5 litres, this oil has some very good reviews from my searching, price does not seem too bad, think car needs about 6 litres have not looked in book, change every 3000 miles on the Hemi !
Seen K&N oil filters on ebay for about £10 plus post is that good price ?
thanks
phil
good choice in having the hemi, the hemi needs an oil change every 6000 miles,if you have a Partco near you get the oil off them, its excellent quality(Unipart) and very well priced, not keen myself of having long life oil fiters(if thats what they claim, best to change the filter everytime you change the oil, makes sense really)geniune filters are cheap enough anyway(less than £10)
