There seems to be a 'glut' of Brand New (well, 59 reg'd) Pre facelifted SRT8 Tourers currently on the market, all priced round the 25k - 26k mark and nearly all being sold via Chrysler Franchised dealers - so tradein prices for your existing car could/should be decent.
If you have a quick look on Autotrader, there are currently 6 available, alll with 25-250 miles on them.
Given that the biggest single cost of running a car is depreciation, this could be a real opportunity for someone to get a rocket estate for very reasonable money.

Isn't the saving still not enough to tempt you to go for a pre facelift car? You could always get the inside re-trimmed in black and still save a fortune off the price of a new one, you can even get vinyl paint for the bottom half of the door cards.

No way.
When I eventually find the car that I'm looking for, I intend to keep it until it 'dies'. So this time there isn't any compromise on spec. The MyGig is a HUGE influence on my buying choice, as I think that the original SatNav is a fairly obsolete piece of partially useless dribble.
The facelifted cars look a lot 'fresher', plus, those Red poweder coated Brembos look sooooo, damned gooooooooooooooddddddd.
I made the mistake when I bought Arnie of looking to closely at the price and not closely enough at the spec, and I said that I wouldn't make the same mistake again.
Plus, I'm after a saloon, the Tourer just doesn't do it for me.

The Mygig is an improvement but not worth 5k-10k more to be honest. The Sat nav still doesn't take a full post code and the bluetooth disconnects halfway through calls. The touch screen is great though.
There doesn't appear to be any facelift SRT8's available anywhere.

Sorry, I've given you a mistaken impression.
I'm looking for a year old/18 month old SRT8, not a brand new one.

Going by the amount of prefacelifts available new there cannot be many facelift models in the UK (if any?) ps, those (supposed) new ones are at least 18mths old lmao.

I've been actively looking for 3 months now and so far I've had
1) 1st car.after holding off for too long, someone else bought it whilst I was driving down country to look at it.
2) 2nd car. Dealer offered me an unrealistic tradein against Arnie. I walked away
3) 3rd car. The deal was right, but the owner of the SRT8 pulled out at the last minute (problems getting credit on his new car ?
There are some out there, but they are very few and far between. But I'll keep looking. In the meantime, I'm not exactly running round in a clunker, am I ?
As for the cars being at least 18 months old. I would imagine that a lot of people are driving around in 'brand new' cars of a similar age.

Totally in agreement with you there! I only plan on taking one trip in a hearse, whilst my daily ride in my pimp-mobile (as Mrs Tall calls it) is a joy!

Agree that a sat nav with 2006 maps and partial postcode resolution is a bit frustrating, but Bluetooth works fine for me (with a lovely on-screen logo in the latest s/w).
The "clean screen" nav mode of the latest s/w is nice too, but we're meant to call it UConnect now!!!

I wonder how much time you have spent using this SatNav? I have been using mine happily for 3 yrs. Initialisation and route planning are very fast and the maps and directions are excellent. OK, some newer by-passes are missing and a few roads have been closed off; big deal! The system works fine even under water (Mersey Tunnel) thanks to the assistance fron the gyro-magnetic compass and the cars odometer. This may sound trivial, but the technique is equally applicable to urban canyons. I know it doesn't work with postcodes but I usually have the full address of my destination, in which case I'm guided to the door and not to the middle of the street or the tradesmens' entrance of a large building. In any case, I've not yet come across a satnav that contains an up-to-date directory of all possible postcodes.
Finally, this SatNav is a great improvement on having no satnav.

Honestly ? On the three occassions that I've had a HEMI on long term loan, I've gicen up on the SatNav as I found it to be a unwieldly, inaccurate, yotally user unfriendly piece of low tech tosh - the £85 TomTom that I use for work beat it all ways up, hands down and round the block !
From my usage, I'd give the basic TomTom 8/10 & the Chrysler SatNav 3/10.
What I will use an awful lot more is the MP3 player input and the internal hard drive to download my audio books & music onto. Plus, maybe one day, I'd get to watch a DVD in the car !
p.s. & it took forever to use that ****ty little joysticy thingy to input an address, digit by digit !
p.p.s when we had the Scottish meetup, it couldn't get me any closer than 5 miles to our destination
