Servicing CRD's - filter prices

Hi all,
Can anyone tell me if £61 is a good price for a set of genuine mopar servicing bits consisting of:
Oil Filter
Air Filter
Fuel Filter
Cabin/Pollen Filter
Sump Plug Washer

I am about to get my 2006 CRD serviced and have a relative who owns a garage who will do the work for me but I said I would look into getting the bits.

Also, what oil do you go with? The 5/40 stuff or something else?

if you want the recommended oil, prepare to sob! Merc. approved low ash oil should be a girl's best friend - its more expensive than diamonds!

5 Litre Total 5/30 MC3 Long Life For BMW Merc Low Saps on eBay (end time 16-Oct-09 1036 BST)

blimey, this has to be the deal of the century. I'm half tempted to buy 2 gallons for my next oil change, which is not due for another 9 month.

I thought the 5/30 oil was recommended for the petrol engines and 5/40 for the diesels?

There are companies out there that will beat even that price. Try googling 'oil and filter service packs'. I've just bought enough Mobil 1 ESP 5w-30 for a couple of changes, together with a couple of oil filters, all for about the price my dealer charged me for the oil at my last service. I plan to halve the oil change interval to try and keep the oil clean between changes.

EDIT: Sheesh - I just checked the receipt for my last service, and the price I remembered for the oil was *before* VAT. I'm quids in compared to just the oil cost, even buying twice as much oil AND two oil filters.

Nope - I'm pretty sure 5w-30 is recommended for all the CRDs. The handbook for my 2008 stipulates 5w-30, and I'm pretty sure my previous 2006 needed the same. Worth checking your handbook though.

Interesting topic the oil thing. Reading my book it specifically states this on page 132/133:

Engine Oil Viscosity chart - 3.5l engines
SAE 10W-30 engine oil is preferred for use in 3.5l engines within the tempratures shown.... SAE 5W-30 is allowed for use in the 3.5l engine during cold weather only to improve cold weather starting.
The table only rates 5W-30 up to temp 0C.

Engine Oil Viscosity chart - 5.7l engines
This recommends 5W-30

Engine Oil Viscosity chart - 3.0l Diesel engines
SAE 0W-40 synthetic engine oil is recommended for all operating temperatures on vehicales equiped with 3.0L diesel engines.

Do other peoples books say something different??

Its gotta be low ash oil too- and theres not many of them out there.....with the diesel it seems you've got to be really careful .
Shell do their Ultra oil in an "Ultra Extra" which is the right grade as its the low ash version of the Ultra....so even they acknowledge it needs a higher grade for the diesel. So I wouldn't go by just the oil weight. You couuld end up trashing the particulate filter - and its not cheap apparently.
