SRT8 Rear light clusters

Have to admit Ive been looking round for a SRT8 Thought id found one at kings swindon however when they posted pics of the said item on the Chrysler UK site (used cars) i was dissapointed to see it looks like it has been messed with. It appears to have non standard rear light clusters can any of you guys have a butchers and see what you think? It also has those horrible chrome foglight surrounds can these be removed without damaging anything or leaving any holes? Also can anybody identify what those two units are in the interior (the one on the centre console and the one stuck up on the corner of the dash) probably screwed on leaving some nice holes behind whem removed

Hi Chrisp

The two units in the interior appear to be for a hans free kit, possibly a 'parrot' car kit because it has a seperate screen, the parrot kits are very good , however, I would question the location in the car personally, if you start moving it around, or take it out completely, you are very likely to have holes or marks depending how it's been fitted.

On to the crome fog surrounds, there are some on ebay which look very much the same, they fit with 'industrial strength' 3m tape, so you are gonna have trouble getting them off.

The rear light clusters are definately 'non standard'.

If you can get a bargain, I wouldn't worry about these things, worst case, you can buy some original rear lights from ebay and swap back, thats an easy job, the light will cost you aroung £100, you might even find someone on here who has changed to aftermarket and has the originals collecting dust in their garage. I would think the original fog light surrounds would be quite cheap from the dealer, they are only plastic, but you do have to remove the front bumper to replace them ( 1 hours work ), and the car kit, well, all aftermarkets are going to spoil the look of a clean dashboard, so that might be your compromise.

I would use your dislikes to negotiate the price down, if it isn't a good enough deal, walk away, lots of them available, you will find the right one for you eventually

On the plus side (if you consider it to be a plus) it does have a magnaflow exhaust fitted.

I wouldn't. That's a super location. That's where I have my phone mount attached, using a Brodit clip-in bracket (no screw holes). It doesn't look as though this installation has used the same bracket though, so there may well be screws holding it on, but actually it is the ideal location. It is almost in your eye line, obscures nothing else, and is highly unlikely to be a hazard in an accident - hopefully your airbag would protect you.

Actually, looking more closely at the photo, it looks as though the bracket is attached with white double-sided foam tape - I'd say there's a good chance you could remove it without trace.

It looks like a screw less bracket to me. I would get them to remove the fog light trims. I am not sure on the rear lights as they did change design of the lenses at some stage plus I'm use to looking at my touring lights and not saloon ones lol. Kings are not far from me if you need someone to have a look for you. If you are talking to someone in sales, I would recommend you only talk to Devon and tell him what you want and I'm sure he'll sort it for you.

Thanks for the comments guys pics are on the Chrysler UK site if anybody else wants to see if they recognse those rear light clusters ive never seen them before. Ill bear youre offer in mind lambournkoi cheers for that. They are going to mail me with a price for mine in part ex so we"ll see how it goes. Is that magnaflow exhaust a complete system or just back boxes and is it worth having? It certainly seems to have had a few mods done in its 13000mile life

It does have a few mods done but it could work in your favour, they will have to honour the Chrysler warranty if they are selling it with the mods fitted. Normally the exhaust would probably invalidate it.

Really ? I'd be very pleasantly surprised if Chrysler would honour a warranty claim that had anything whatsoever to do with an aftermarket addition - bearing mind that Chrysler are skint and the parts bins are empty (suppliers bills unpaid ?)
