my 300 has odd issues!! (Moved)

hi all,
i found this forum searching the net for info regarding a problem my 300c has developed,

its a 2006 with the crd motor, its been fine for 71k and i was begining to think how lucky id been with it when.......

lights flashing everywhere - it was like the dashboard of the starship enterprise !!

pulled over and stopped/restarted the engine and now i have the engine warning light on and i also have the electronic throttle control light flashing away, to make matters worse it went into some 'limp home mode' and wont go above 2000rpm (unless the road is about 5 miles long)
a mate popped around with his snap on scanner, plugged it into the dl16 socket and 'no comunication' was our reward,
soooo.....
we did the 'key thing' and all we got was... ----- then 'done', so no codes ??

hows that possible ? the engine and ETC lights are on, the cars still in limp mode but its telling us theres no codes

anyone got any suggestions please ?
our local dealer is a shark so id like to avoid him if at all possible
many thanks
chris

Sorry to read about this, but WELCOME to the forums anyway!

With a CRD I assume you're in the UK or Europe somewhere. I've read something about a swirl chamber problem that has a fix of some kind, but I think the dealer has to do it... you might try looking in that section. Mot sure how it would line up with warranty though unless you have an extended powertrain type of thing... 71kilometers = 38.3k miles so you'd be beyond the 3yr/36 bumper to bumper (if that applies over there).

That's the only thing I can think of...

If I find a link on that subject I'll be back to post it. Try this for info: 300C died on me on the motorway. Also check threads by user Murphy The Cat.

Chrisandlisa whereabouts in the UK are you?cos if you're close enough I could plug my diag tool into your car,it does look and sound like the swirl rods have gone though,it's a common failure on the CRuD engines

hi, we're in Didcot, just south(ish) of Oxford so while not a million miles away still a tad too many,
iv just been out and had a good look around with a torch and theres a little bit of oil down in the 'v' of the engine, iv read somewhere that its this that kills the swirl actuator (?) so your prob spot on,
do you know if there is a pic anywhere on here (iv had a quick look but no luck) or even some info on doing the job ??

thanks for your reply

chris

Hello Chris (& welcome to the forums)

keep your fingers crossed that it isn't the swirl chamber problem as its going to cost you £500-£1000 to put right. from your profile, it says that your car is a 2006 car. Please tell me that it is a December 2006 car and that it is still in warranty.
