Mine still wont work.Can anyone in cleveland area help me out with their reader to see what codes come up and switch off the mil light.Dont want to buy another reader which might not work aswell,that will be a right pi$$ take.Thanks,ANDY.
There must be a problem with the cars interface/connections somewhere.
The whole philosophy behind OBD is that it is a "Standard" communication interface. Manufacturers cannot just change the way modules talk to each other of their own accord.
If your new scanner communicates OK with other vehicles there is obviously a problem with your vehicles communication system, not the scanner.
Either a bad connection to the OBD socket or bad connection to the ECU or a faulty ECU.

Sorry to be pedantic, but manufacturers do use different comms protocols, although the message content/structure has to conform to the OBD standard. If you try Googling the subject you will find lots of info on why comms links fail on OBD readers. Here is but one example:
Sorry Al but that reader ain't vehicle specific,for example VAG specific codes don't begin with "P" or "C" or "U" like EOBD codes do ( they do with EOBD readers but VS readers read the manufacturers code) EOBD readers are simple, VS readers are way more complicated,like I mentioned before,imagine a big box and in one small corner is EOBD,the other 95% is VS ( vehicle specific) and its the VS that the manufacturers don't want you to read so you have to take it to a dealer,unless you know someone with a VS reader and all you can read with a cheap EOBD reader is that small section in the corner of the big box....it gets more complicated..mines VS but cos I don't pay to join certain manufacturers VS " club" through certain VS readers you can actually upgrade software on the vehicles but I got mates that can do that for me,basically EOBD readers are just scratching the surface cos manufactures are changing their systems every few years....it really is a nightmare to keep with them
Yea Ray i know it doesn't do what a all singing all dancing couple of grand machine does, but it does read more than the generic code readers.It comes with software for most cars but no Italian brands.
I also own some cheaper code readers and laptop based software but none can do what the Autel does for the £140 i paid
