Ouch, that's nasty. Be interesting to see what I get quoted when I try them in April, well, assuming the Topcashback refund is still on offer.
I was tempted by the £80 cashback with the RAC as it made the RAC the cheapest quote. However, when I went through to pay for it, the premium jumped up by a £100 or so. I went elsewhere but I've read reports of other people being caught out.

That was probably because you had the pay monthly option highlighted. The cheapest price is for a one off payment, but for some reason it defaults to monthly, you have to choose the one off. It isn't overly obvious to see, possibly on purpose.
Whilst on the topic of insurance, read the cover details carefully - I had to walk away from Hastings Direct when I got my 300C as their audio system cover was limited to £700, even for factory fitted equipment. It would cost a lot more than that to replace a MyGig.

True. My last 3 cars have been performance cars 2 M3's and an Evo and I know a lot of people who have been stung using a cheap insurance companies. If you buy a performance car, like an SRT8 or mod any car to a certain degree its worth paying a little extra for quality insurance. I was quoted £740 by elephant but opted for a more expensive quote of £859 from A-Plan, Pace Ward were also reasonable. Its the same principle as people spending money on modifications and then buying budget tyres which are the one thing between you and the road. Why spend loads of money on a car only to be shafted if you have an accident for the sake of £100 -200 a year.
Loool....this will put all of your insurances to shame...
Male, 28 years, 9 years no claims, 10 years license, no accidents or convictions, live in a quiet Cambridgeshire village (one of the safest, with no car crime) and I even used Moneysavingexpert.com's tool to choose a job title that has the lowest insurance but is still relevant to what I do.....
My insurance on the stock SRT8 stands at £1728 with A-Plan.
Plus, A-plan ask for this to see if I have experience with performance cars, I have a history of 2x imprezas, R34 skyline GTT, R33 Skyline GTR, an S14, a jag XJR, a Porsche and many more!!....Never crashed!
This was the cheapest quote I got! Most mainstream insurers refused to quote!
Mines 6 grand a year but I can drive anything that I,my wife and 3 other people sit in whether it's insured or not, actually that's not quite the true price, road risk is about 2.7k the rest is public liability but I can own as many cars as I like as long as I personally list them on Insurance database ( I have 15 motors registered to the company... lol)but I have certificates for everyone involved in case I forget but in 17 years none of us have ever been stopped by the law...... yet.... lol

Don't wind me up! I've had a rant about what AF quote me on here before.
I've been a customer of theirs since I was a spotty yoof with a Marina 1.8 Super but they can't ever quote me anything sensible on the 300.
AF used to insure My Cougar, My wifes Suzuki Grand Vitara and my motorhome. We changed our motorhome and AF put the premium up over £300 so we moved to the camping and caravan club saving £400 a year. My wife had an accident but had protected NCD AF put her insurance up £300 so we moved and saved £250 per year. On my cougar no-one can get near AF so I have been with them over 10 years. I save around £500 per year compared to other insurers.
