Well i decided to go for one of these units and the 'Carpad' is quite nice. More of a tap pad than a touch pad. Using it to type this message Not quite an iPad but perfectly adequate. Bit quirky but im not fussy. Does the job

Main unit didn't work so had to send back for a replacement

Customer service is pretty good. They now ship from uk warehouse should have waited but cest la vie

One final thing to sort out and thats the wiring. Been looking on forums etc. and basically found two - Scosche CR03SR or PAC C2R-CHY4. Seem to only be available from the states.

Any help here appreciated, also need the wiring to convert steering controls to analogue

I am quite interested in one of these or a similar one, but it would be interesting to hear what it is like. How good is the sat nav? Can you enter post codes and what is the screen resolution like? Have you sorted the steering wheel controls yet?
Overall, would you recommend one as a replacement for the stock REJ unit?

Cheers bud, this answers part of my dilemma, but they list two for chrysler so which way to go? I just need to know now whether or not the unit is worth buying. Can't help but think that at this price, the quality/function can't be up to much.

Don't suppose yours was the 300c I saw just outside Fleetwood a couple of weeks ago (see the Was It You sticky)?

The unit I bought is this one - noname Chinese brand, however, for the money it has everything you need.

So far I have managed to work out the following :

1. You need to get a correct aftermarket harness otherwise you run into a multitude of problems. I have found the following website in the US that has several options : https://www.sonicelectronix.com.
PAC C2R-CHY4 (C2R-CHY4v1) $79.99
Scosche CR03SR (CR03SRB / DCCR03SRB) $74.99
Axxess CHTO-02 $99.99
Axxess CHTO-013 $87.99
Peripheral CHYAH06 $67.99

Having contacted them directly they recommend the first one - PAC C2R-CHY4 (C2R-CHY4v1)

2. You need the larger size opening dash surround - on the 07 model it would have been to fit the REJ unit. Once you remove the stock unit you need to buy a double din facia to fit the new unit :

3. To get the Steering Wheel controls to work is a little trickier. This depends on the unit. My noname unit determines the actions by the voltage - as such I believe you need a convertor to convert the CanBus signal to voltage. For named brands ( such as Sony, JVC, etc. ) you can buy specific plug-in adaptors. I haven't investigated this part further yet as I want to get the main unit working and not too fussed about the steering controls. Example harness that might be required is :

Sorry forgot to mention

As regards the SATNAV. You have two options on the CarPad. One is to use the provided package - Igo8, which I believe is the same as TomTom or Google Maps.

Although there are a couple of things to consider :

1. The IGO8 doesn't work if the Pad is detached - i.e. the Pad doesn't have an inbuilt GPS antenna. It uses GPS on the base unit. However, it is very configurable and looks smart
2. The Pad doesn't have inbuilt GSM so it you want to use Google Navigation I guess you would need to either plan your route at home before you leave using WiFi, or tether to your phone to get updates, or connect a 3G Dongle

I too saw the ad in ebay. The unit looks like a perfect fit for my 300C.

I have the 6CD changer unit, which I believe is the "REC", but your post said "REJ", not sure if that was a typo.

Anyway, I was wondering how you made out?

I decided to sell it in the end. Reasons :

1. Just couldn't live with the flaky quality of the functionality - not as good as some better known brands
2. As I have the Boston premium audio, so I lost the woofer - this is an unfortunate aspect of installing a replacement system. Unless there is someone out there knows how to overcome this.
3. Couldn't get the steering wheel functions back - Canbus adaptor and leads on unit different
4. Dash display switched to German ??

Also you need to buy the CanBus adaptor to ensure it works - e.g. PAC C2R-CHY4. I bought the later version PAC RP4-CH11 which includes the Steering Wheel functionality ( Pac-Audio.com Product Details | iPod Integration for your car and More by Pac-Audio - Connecting you to the future )

So, I am thinking about buying the latest Sony Unit ( as I can source these quite cheaply : Double Din | Car CD & DVD player | Stereo Double Din | Sony) and it will work with the Canbus adapator correctly.
