Best £60.00 I ever spent

I purchased the leather console cover with 1/2" foam pad from www.22elite.com (James is a supporting vendor here and goes under the name Aspendog). I was thinking about this mod for a long time cuz my elbow has been getting pretty chafed from the hard plastic/rubber cover that DC supply the car with. I wish I would have done the mod from the beginning. They leather is soft and durable. The cover fit way better than expected I would say it's a 100% perfect fit. The thread and seems are perfectly aligned and there are no wrinkles at all. There is no way anybody can tell this was not part of the original equipment. I went with the light slate cover and matching stitching and it blend beautifully. This makes the center console look like one complete unit. Now I have a nice soft place for my elbow to rest and a huge improvement in looks.

EXCELLENT WORK 22ELITE !!

Total cost including $30 carriage to Britain, armrest cover, glue & foam is £60 (nearer £55 if you already have the glue).

A top job.

This is what the car looks like after finishing

MTC

p.s. I c&p'd most of the text from shanemcse as I thought that some Brits may have missed the thread and the picture is from
Todd RT - I'll get a picture of Arnie in RHD form ASAP.

Hey MTC, that looks the..... I was going to say Dogs B*llox's but that doesn't seem appropriate! Is it a slip on cover that is glued in place? Can't be bad for £60!

Hi Belmont

it's not as straightforward as just slipping it over as I've padded it as well.

James instructions (Elite22) were very clear and a lot better than I could try and explain !

MTC

p.s. DC doing this as an option/standard would be an absolute winner for them (but not for Elite22)

MTC, Startech do offer an alernative centre armrest as part of the interior accent pack. Rather more than £60 it also replaces the plastic and carpet on the doors with a lovely alcantarra finish! Its on order and i'll get pics soonest.

Hi BB

no it's not a picture of Arnie's insides - its Todd RT's car (its LHD as well if you look !). I've not managed to get a piccie of Arnie in the light yet to show you properly ! I think the leather is the same colour as mine, but I'm not sure (light slate, but the light makes it difficult top compare) but Arnie does have a Tortoise on his door handle. I'll have to look at the stitching when I go out later on, but I think that Arnies is the same as yours !!

Hurray, I've managed to get some piccies of Arnie tonight and i think that this one shows the armrest off best

what it doesn't show is how comfortable it makes the driving position.

Hi BB

hmm this is really hard to put into words.

The armrest in its original hard rubber mode is absolutely fine, its just that the padded leather armrest is an awful lot finer !! The leather armrest just adds a nice finishing touch to the car for not a lot of money.

It's a pity that you are so far away, as if you were closer I would have happily let you try it for yourself.

MTC

p.s. I think that I can explain it better. In you've car you've always had aircon and you've been really happy with it. But now you have climate control which does the same job, it just does it a lot better.
This is the original thread, as you can see, the North Americans like it as well, a LOT.
