Angry Royal Mail arghhhh!

I am so annoyed!!!

I send a lot of parcels in my business all from approx 3kg upward. An order came in yesterday for a 2kg bag of Koi Food so I thought it would be cheaper to send it via Royal Mail as we have to subsidise P&P charges (we can only charge £3.95 otherwise customers would go elsewhere).

I went on to the Royal Mail website and was quoted £4.41 for the 2kg package. I just took it the the post office and was told it would be £7.06 for a 3day service. When questioned about the cost I was told it weighed 2100grams / 2.1kg.

I have just sent it cheaper via DHL who collected it from my home address and will deliver it in 24hrs not 72hrs like the post office.

I cannot understand how a courier company can charge less money to send up to 31kg than the post office charge for 2.1kg? Its no surprise Royal Mail are loosing millions when thousands of companies like mine are forced to use couriers to send small packages nationwide.

Rant over

Unfortunately RM is soo poorly organised you would not believe, unfortunately they were ruled by the 60's 70's unions and now its a bit like British Leyland was before it was killed off. The workers go on strike as soon as anything happens they dont like, they cant see that change is necessary if they are too survive. And most of the management are made up of workers promoted because they were no good as workers. RM dont seem to be aware that they have competition, and the fact that email is taking over their letter monopoly, soon they will be left only with the work that nobody else wants and unfortunately those that live miles from civilization will be the real losers

Interesting you should say "ruled by the 60's 70's unions and now its a bit like British Leyland was before it was killed off".
I was stood in the post office queue one day last week, I was watching a particular clerk.. I just knew by her manorism, it was getting close to her lunch break.
Bang smack up, 12:15, she pulled the shutter down and dissapeared.
20 people stood in a queue, and now only 2 people serving.

And another thing.. I had a card pushed through our letter box at work, to say we had a packet that was under paid, and we had to pay the additional postage.
£1.08.. 8p under payment and £1 handling charge.
They wouldn't let me see the parcel, or tell me where it originated.
I argued, that it could be junk mail, and I might not want it, but nope.. you pay up, or don't receive it.

I begrudgingly paid the £1.08, to be told the post man would deliver it tomorrow... Why can't I have it now ???
When it arrived, it was a letter, but get this.. it wasn't under paid at all.. it went throught the guage without any problems.

I marched up there, fuming... all they could say.. "Ah.. we are the post office, it's not down to us, it's down to Royal Mail, they are around the back, youl'l have to take it up with them" "Incidentally, they close at 12:00 so you'll have to wait until Monday"........ aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggg

t0$$ers, I hate them.
